I'm in pursuit of McIntyres (any of the 50+ known spellings) McInnes/McInnis/McGinnis/M*c? McGregory/MacGregory Lee/Leigh in Neshoba Co. from 1830 (could be earlier, though) till now. The lot of them are connected. Some of the McIntyres ended up in Van Zandt Co., Texas, but I've no idea how. Best regards, PK Murphy in Toronto A great-great-granddaughter of Nancy McIntyre and Evan Ludbrook Lee, both of mid-19th-century Neshoba Co.

I have a John Adcock Williams born 1820 in NC or SC (he claimed both at different time) family moved to MS not long after his birth to what became Choctaw and later Montgomery County. Either his mother was Indian or the whole family was---family legend is vague on that---one of his sons received a land settlement check in the 1920s (after Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek---Indians sued gov't case was finally settled in 20s)---the check disappeared---John's son was Oliver Monroe Williams born about 1864 (odd that John's pension from Civil War says he served in AL army). This guy is a real puzzle---Had 2 or three wives but these were not until the 1860s---Mary Peeples, Cynthia Henley, Mary Fletcher (who had same middle name and birthday as Mary Peeples abt 1841somewhere I have the exact date) His other children were Walter (full brother to Oliver) Etta Williams Horton (d/o Peeples) born 1861 Caroline Leatha Williams Singleton born 1892 or 82 Cal (he may not have existed at all) Cynthia Henley was born July 25, 1839 in AL (or so it says in 1860 Choctaw County census where she is married to a Johnson and living with his parents) If she was born in AL or MS can't find her in the 1850 census for those states--she had a twin sister named Martha who had a illegitimate son Will Henley---Cynthia had 2 Johnson children that lived: Eli born 1861 (first person buried at Hebron Cemetery in Montgomery County) and Tom. She never married again after John Williams left her with two boys---one still a baby---it is possible that she was where the Indian blood came. I'd just like to find out about Cynthia's family and John's: who were their parents (I stayed on the Henley list about 3 years where a large portion of them had AL kin from that time period but no one had heard of identical twin girls. (Cynthia spent the last part of her life living with her son Oliver--she seems to have been sick all the time after John left her---till Oliver got old enough to get a wife and care for her---we think a brother of hers lived with her to tend to the children---it is possible that Martha's boy Will lived in same household---he by the way married Sally Austin Herring in Montgomery County) thanks lee caldwell-owens

This applies to Message Boards as well . Who is going to take time to read a message with the subject "Searching for family", "Looking for Roots ", "Jones Family" etc.? It isn't that most of us are indifferent , we would like to help if we can, but meaningful subject headings with approximate dates and migrations ( if known ) would really be a big help . For instance , I had relatives in MS from 1840-1890 . I might be able to help anyone looking for connections during that period, but would be no help at all in 1900- 2000. HANSON PHILLIPS SMITH McCRARY Information needed on the above surnames, but especially on: A.J. Smith, possibly brother of Eliza/Elizabeth Smith, who married Matthew McCrary. Eliza & Matthew appear on 1850 C. for Tippah Co. with several children, including youngest son, Smith (Sanford) McCrary, age 6, b. MS. Eliza is listed as age 47, b. in SC; Matthew is listed as age 52, b. SC. When Smith Sanford (S.S.) McCrary applied for his CSA pension in TX, an affidavit on his behalf was filed by A.J. Smith in San Antonio, TX, stating that he had known S.S. McCrary since they were children in MS, and affirming the military service of Smith Sanford McCrary in the 3rd MS Cavalry. S.S. McCrary, the Hansons and A.J. Smith left Water Valley, MS about 1873-74 to come to TX. I think A.J. Smith was related to Eliza, but I have no other information to go on. Thanks to all for any help on this. Harriet
