    2. In speaking of Newton County, my g-g-grandmother Martha Anderson Crutchfield married 2nd 1854 John Evans Watts b. 1805; d. 1875 Newton Co. He was a minister, Lawyer, State Rep., Judge, physician and had an earlier marriage to Elizabeth Ann [Betsy] Chapman who died sometime before the marriage of my grandmother. My g-g-grandmother was also a widow, previously married to Aloysius Michael Keegan d. 1838 Lawrence Co. He was also a Judge, represenative, Senator, Lawyer in the surrounding Counties. Do any of you connect to this family or know anything about them? In the 1860 census of Jasper County, there is no child, but in 1870 of the same County John and Martha Watts have listed a daughter Elizabeth M. age 15. I don't know if that was their daughter or not and don't know the date of death of Betsy Chapman. Thanks, Gladys

    3. In regard to those WFT CD's, it is important that everyone realize that the Trees were furnished by individuals who may have erroneous information, so you must VALIDATE every entry...I know of more than one case, where a researcher picked up an incorrect ancestor link with the same name and hence, they have a totally different lineage than the correct one...their haste to be the first to make their Tree available caused them to jump before they were ready... With the speed of the Internet, once the error is out there, it is virtually impossible to stop the errors from procreating themselves...So, be sure you VALIDATE YOUR DATA... >From: Adrian & Briana Etie <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] World Family Tree Volume #s, Tree #s >Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 21:03:55 -0800 (PST) > >There is a man on ebay that sells many volumes of Family Tree Maker's WFTs >. 3. Harold, you wouldn't happen to research any Johnson families in Newton Co., would you? I am trying to find a brother of my great grandfather by the name of Benjamin Johnson. He was born about 1834/35 in Alabama and was on the 1850 Pontotoc Co. census with his parents and siblings. I believe he is the brother who left Pontotoc Co. with my great grandfather, Joseph Abner Johnson (Joab Johnson) in 1858/59 and went South to Neshoba Co.; however, I believe Benjamin did not remain in Neshoba Co., but may have gone on to Newton Co. It's just a guess, but I would really love to find him. The other siblings remained in Pontotoc Co./Lee Co. The parents of these two brothers were Randolph Johnson (born about 1800 in TN) and Elizabeth Ashby (born about 1800 in NC). Thanks for your response.
