    1. [MISSISSIPPI] ED aka Sin is Back
    2. Edward Hall
    3. Hi Everyone: I have been reading some of the archive records. Decided to make this my base since I have contacts to numerous counties in Ms. and because I am kin to just about everyone in S. Ms. one way or the other. Some of you know me, and that I had to take time off to do some college work. Yes I am the guy with a huge data base. Still have another month of college work. But after that I will have some time to devote to look ups etc. If I join (I already did) this list, it may bring others in who may help all of you also. So exspect others to look for me here once they know I am back doing my research on my MS lines and updating my data bases. A special note of interest for you guys, is that I am the Civil War buff guy too...So if grandpa was in the War, maybe I can help find him and put you on the right track this way. Another note, I have been learning a lot of stuff in college, in my Computer Science field. So I also have some understanding in this area also. Let's see, for those that never heard of me, I am married to THE SNAKE, and have children and grandkids all living with me. YES I am old guy went back to college. TRY IT before you knock it. Lots of animals here cats and dogs and my dog even has his own cat. Don't ask about that...I am embarrassed as is. Just shaking my head over that genealogy mess to come....(((((( ..))))) " Your turn to say hello. And tell me some surnames (MS) you are interrested in finding out more about. Give ya my favorites later. SIN or ED same guy

    1. Re: [MISSISSIPPI] Re: May / Wilkins / Hinson
    2. Hi, I read your above mail. I am a HINSON researcher living in PA. My great grandfather was Oliver Perry NILEY son of Mary (HINSON) NIley. When Oliver was being transported as a POW from IL to Camp Delaware, he escaped from the train in western PA, took his grandfather's name and lived there until 1928, raising a large family. His descendants are many. Last year I had his grave marked with the southern cross to honor his service to his country. I would be happy to correspond/share my HINSON info with anyone else whose researches this name. Thanks, Jan

    3. [copied from google.com] Each year the South Mississippi Genealogical and Historical Society sponsors a daylong seminar with many excellent programs. This seminar is a must -- mark your calendar. This year the featured speaker is George Schweitzer. His educational and entertaining historical re-enactments (in uniform) of characters representing the American Revolution and the Confederacy makes learning military history fun. You will learn about the beliefs of the day and why they fought. He also will explain what sources are available, how to locate them and what they tell us about these historic periods in time. The seminar will be March 27, 2004 at the Holiday Inn at 6563 U.S. 49 in Hattiesburg, MS. Early registration is recommended for this sell-out seminar. Cost of the seminar is $25 per person if you pre-register by March 6. No credit cards accepted. After March 7 or at the door, registration will be $30 (cash only at the door). Send checks and registration information to: South Mississippi Genealogical and Historical Society, P.O. Box 15271, Hattiesburg, MS 39404-5271. In the memo field write "seminar registration." Schweitzer is a Alumni Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee. He has a bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry, a master's degree in the history of religion, a Ph.D. in history of science and a doctor of science degree in philosophy of science. He is Phi Beta Kappa and listed in Who's Who in America. He has authored 220 publications including 19 genealogical guidebooks. He has lectured to more than 200 genealogical and historical societies in the United States, Canada, England and Germany. Books and other genealogical items will be for sale from various vendors. 1. [MISSISSIPPI] Wallaces in MS, 1800's
    2. Am searching for two lines of Wallaces: first, Joe Wallace [presumeably Joseph] who was born supposedly in Alabama around 1830's, married Ann Weatherby, and later [about 1855] moved to Attala Co., MS, where his son, William Allen Wallace, was born. The second is John Wallace, born 1805 in Alabama, moved to Madison Co., MS, around 1833. His daughter, Lucinda C. Wallace, was born in Madison Co. on 31 August 1833; she died 12 Nov 1886 in Holmes Co., MS. Will be happy to share whatever information I have and would appreciate so much any that you have to offer! 2. Mine is Rosanna Elmore and don't know where in SC she was born or her parentage. I know there were a lot of Elmore's in Newberry. I don't know where in SC my Wood family came from either. I don't know for sure if they married in SC as one census says the older children were born in SC and one says GA. I just don't know if they met there and married or in Georgia. I wish I could tell you more. Gladys

    2. My family website is mostly Mississippi and Alabama families. I am connected to so many families in these states and have found it very helpful to create a Dreambook for others with similar interest to find and sign. I have found this method along with my website and being a member of the mail lists will yield results. Please review my website for any family connections and sign the Guestbook which may help in your search, Thanks Sincerely, Ernie Smith 2586 otranto road Charleston,SC 29406 Reprint Company, Publisher Authorized Dealer Spartanburg,SC *Featured Reprint* "Four Centuries on the Pascagoula" by Cyril Cain New Reprint Edition 2 volume set, (info at my site on Coverpage) Cover Page Address http://members.aol.com/pooh4u386/HOMEPAGE.html Main HomePage Address http://members.aol.com/pooh4u386/HOMEPAGE

    3. Just jumping in to ask if Elizabeth Elmore was a member of the Elmore family who settled in Coweta County Georgia. I am interested in them because of a marriage with a Langford lady from Newberry SC. Am tracking all Langford/Lankford families in the south looking for a link to my family line which began settling in Mississippi from Georgia about 1816 and made their final permanent move into Greene County MS by 1830.
