    3. Hi, just got your post and am so glad that finally there is someone who may be able to find my elusive DOOLEY............................ I don't have a whole lot on this guy but will post what I do know. E L DOOLEY married EMMA or EMILY McNEALY somewhere in MS between 1865 and 1867. Emma/Emily was born about 1853 in MS. They had the following children: SUSAN/SUZY born abt 1868, WILLIAM born abt 1872 and FRANK born abt 1873. I've searched all the records I can find and have come up with nothing. I'm trying to find the full name of E L DOOLEY, marriage record for them, where they lived, when and where the children were born. I'm assuming that E L was in the civil war in MS but I have no clue where to even start looking since I don't have his full name. Anything you can tell me or maybe point me in the right direction will be wonderful. 3. Shirley, I can tell you got a hodge podge of info here. Will have to sift through it all to make sence of it.By the way, the Ashley's do go off into the Smith lines and that one I have a lot of info to input into my data base ...A special note is that I have not as yet, did a whole lot of research on this side of my family. My father married an Ashley, then married a bailey...Smiths, (Four Penny Smiths) Kings, turners, Wilson's all tie in way back...to American revolution and beyond. These in turn tie in to WINSONOCOCK...father of Motaka aka Pocohontas. Does any of this ring a bell? SIN

    2. Edward Hall
    3. Alice: Did a quick check for you and could not find anything. Will check the civil war data base for ya. Not sure if we have enough information to go on here. Did you check any of the census records yet? Know where anyone is buried at (Cemetary or county?) As for suggestions, in McComb, MS. there is a library with a great Genealogy section of and some good researchers are known to visit there often. HINT HINT worth a look see when you get some time to visit. Besides these names, anyone else you have sur names that might tie in to your Dooley? No idea at all what part of MS he or they may have lived in:? Is quite a lot of work to have to check all of the census for your Dooley not knowing which county he may have resided in. Anything you can think of as regards old family tales of places and events is also a good approach for ideas that may lead to a treasure trove. Keep looking, we will find them all. SIN

    3. Ed,You sound like a fantastic fellow. Your menagerie alone is worth tickets to see. My Mississippi search is for a very interesting fellow named Robert Ashley(and brother Chester). Robert born in S.C.,married Sarah Whitmel Harrington, Shows up in 1795 land records in Bayou Pierre,Claiborne County,Miss. Was nephew by marriage of Gen Elijah Clark, accompanied Phillip Nolan to Texas in Nolan's aborted land grab. Nolan was killed but Robert escaped. Accompanied Aaron Burr on his flight from the law when he was captured and put on trial. Robert escaped, judgement day on that one too. Evereything I know about him I read in Miss. History accounts. One cousin gave me a list of Ashleys.swearing they were all my ancestors. Have found nothing about descendants so. I know that all of my father's family of ashleys were in Mississippi by 1800 Hope this isn't too much to download at one setting. Robert was certainly an interesting person, adventurer?
