    2. He was likely furnished transportation to Vicksburg at the end of hostilities. The soldiers compiled service record will contain some data. Sometimes, but not always the following: place and date of capture, where he was received, age and physical description, any time spent in hospital and if he died it will usually have the grave number. The Compiled Service Records can be ordered from the MS Dept. of Archives and History for 15 bucks. The POW records in the MS D&H are very hard to search. Not alphabetized order but by date.

My cousin, Janice Deitch Young wrote a book on my maternal grandmothers line, BARROSSE and she has compiled in her book some really great information on the various lines of this New Orleans (French for most part) family including that of our Baumgartner/Pankerne (German) line. 3. Randy - hope this helps For future genealogists, or others, you want to enter the actual location of the deceased death. If it happens to be in the hospital in a neighboring county or even country or other place of his usual residence this is pertinent. In the future if someone is looking for that person they can retrieve the death cert from that place. If they want to know where he actually lived they will be looking for census records or land records, etc. Allene in California -----Original Message----- From: Randy Jones <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 4:45 PM Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] Places of birth/death >I have what is probably a stupid question.... > >When entering information into a genealogy form/program what location do you enter when a person was born or died in a hospital in a neighboring county. 3. Thanks, SIN for the information. I have Augustus Aycock's service record and I was wondering if anyone had any personal pics or info on the company. By the way....I'm very impressed by your compassion for genealogy and your willingness to help others!!! If I can be of any help in North Mississippi, just let me know. Randy Jones Tupelo, MS Randy: Just as you said, being there to help me when my time comes for help. That is what it is about. As for photos of the 31stl. Mississippi, I have not yet done any cross reference work on photos. However, I have the TIME LIFE Civil War Series of books. The full set. Including index. So that might guide me later to see if I can find ya some kind of photo. I am sure some of the Genealogical Societies of S. Mississippi might have just such a photo. May I make a request of the list? That we get one person in contact with just one of the Genealogical Societies and of course the DAR etc. and try to set up a go between for all of us and we can share our findings with them also. What does everyone think of this idea? SIN

    2. Edward Hall
    3. Folks: Just in case someone is wondering, I check my list This one to see what they want first. I check my seperate email to see if there is something I am or have asked to be sent that way. Anything sent to me off list without my asking is done last. Special requests that catch my attention for some special reason naturally get a jump at times on something else. So since we all need to share what we are doing, I usually answer or like to answer all requests openly unless there is a special need for some type of privacy which I will always respect. Some of my friends are already hearing that I am back researching doing some look ups. But I am and still have a month of college to do. Believe it or not, I had to do a mid term today for a second time due to thier computer malfunction. Well at least I imporved a strong B to a solid A on it. Guess there is some good from that, but heck on my other study time. Now let me go say hello to my family here for a bit. See ya later, Sin

    3. Susan: Am going an extra mile on this one for you. Will see what I can find out from up to date to whatever I come up with. The last name Kuntz you mentioned is a very well known name in New Oreleans and Also Kuntler is also a variation of it. They are known prominent memembers of the American Bar Association. I am sure one was D.A. of New Orleans at one time. All of this off the top of my head. Forgot to mention, I also lived and grew up both in New Orleans and S. Mississippi. So did not have to research this one to give this information. Knew it off top of my melon. No talking about my melon now mind ya.
