Dave: I sure hope you do not run into the Brewer/Brister variation connection here. It is one has driven me bonkers for years. PK: Have a Lulu McIntyre m. to Luther Prinsis Burnham who had parents William Capers Burnham m. Susannah Brumfield. These were around Rankin County MS. If you can recheck your connection to MS. by the census and see who close neighbors were, you may pick up on a name or two that one of the daughters may have married into. Sometimes it is the way to find the rest of them. SIN
Patsy: I know we are going to have a lot of info to share. Just letting you know as I read your last email you are right about who all we are connected to. And I was just wondering where you live at? SIN
S.K.Bane: Immigrants would have passed through the land of the Cherokees to get to MS. and many a male picked up a bride along the way. So for the Blackfoot to be a part, it would be after he left MS. if you follow this. The Ga. area was Cherokee Country as well as AL and the Carolinas. If the Cherokee became family after the trail of tears, then it would be a family secret and you may find a lot of brick walls there. When the Cherokee were resettled to Oklohoma many Cherokee hid out and passed as whites and or other nationalities. Some of these went to Florida. If they were part of the trail of tears and made it to Oklohoma suggest you check the Dawes Rolls for names to see if they are on it. This was just a brieft synopsis, not a verbatim statement of history etc. SIN
Jan: Jack Callahan m. Sarah Dockery and David Callihan m. Catherine Hightower. If you know either of these you hit a major data base. Told you I would recheck this for you. If either of these ring a bell let me know. If you want me to go forward or backward on these let me know. We are looking for an article concerning General N. H. Harris of Natchez, MS. The reference that we have is Page 70, 1894 (or 1895). Does anyone have the CD or Hardcopy of this series of magazines? Can you point us toward someone who does. Lastly is there some site on the net where the magazine can be found. Gratefully Dover2

Found AMELIA DOME in the 1880 census. She is listed as Mulatto, with children ages between 2 and 15. I cannot find her in the 1870 census. She was living in WHITESTOWN, WILKINSON, MS. Think of your family ancesters as branches on a tree. When you started the genealogy research you were the base. Your knowledge of you and your Mom, Dad, any brothers and sisters etc. began the branches...Then from your Mom and Dad the branches forked off to Grandma and Grandpa for each of them. Mom and Dad also may have had brothers and sisters and each of them becomes another branch and the children of those Uncles and Aunts (fist Cousins) are yet other branches. Each one that married became another branch with their children so forth and so on. > > The reason I am saying this is that you already have learned a lot I am betting. You ar right about nick names. They are used quite a lot down South and in my family I also had to overcome this problem. It can lead to what seems are identical families. The other side of that problem is that brothers and sisters often tended to name their kids the same ways. One of my great Grandfathers had two families and each of the two families knew of the other (thank goodness for that when it comes to Genealogy research.) > > You have quite a bit of info on your Howard, I think something is going to give when you continue to cross reference with other branches.
