I have a problem for you. My g-grandpappy, John P. Wilkinson, from Sumter County, Ala., apparently was in Vicksburg MS when the war broke out. He joined up with Wirt Adams Cavalry and remained with it all thru the fighting. After surrender he went to Texas. I cannot find any connection to him in Vicksburg. Why would he have gone there at the age of 19=21? I don't know for sure his parents. A year or so later, a Joshua L. Wilkerson of Sumter County joined up in the same company (L) and after the war joined John P. in Walker County, Texas, and they married sisters. Not really troubled by variant spelling of the name, but why would Joshua (a brother, a cousin, a coincidence?) join a Mississippi regiment? love joan

My Smith's were in Franklin County as early as 1820 The oldest one I have documented is Nicholas Smith, David Smith was his son and George was his grandson. George married Alice Zumbro in 1870? Or so. He died in the 1930's as an old man. I am typing from memory but I am sure that the George you mention is not mine. Sorry--would love to claim it but not so! Good day, I'm seeking the date of death and place of buriel for Malcolm L McIntyre, who died between 1845 and 1850 in Mississippi, it's said from an accident with a horse. Malcolm L McIntyre bought land in Kemper Co, MS, in 1820, but was in Neshoba Co, MS, by 1836 and served as Neshoba Co's first sheriff. Malcolm L McIntyre married Mary McGinnis (could be any variant spelling) in Rankin Co, MS, in 1833. Any leads or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Best regards, PK Murphy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
