Hi Sue, There is now a letter to Wert Cooper in my mailbox ready for the postman to pick up! Thanks for the address. He may also be the owner of Mag-pie Gift and Art on Delta Avenue in Clarksdale. Couldn't find an e-mail address. I prefer to write a letter or e-mail vs. a phone call so that people have time to figure out how they want to react. Some people just don't want to be bothered. I know what you mean about solving a mystery. I think of all of it as a puzzle to be solved. Priscilla --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security. Since someone here is knowledgeable of people in McComb, I am hunting also for information on people who lived there. My g-uncle Benjamin Larkin had daughters Louise bc and Annie E. is all that I know except for their married names in 1941 in his obituary. They were given as Mrs. R. L. Williams and Mrs. L.L. May living at that time in McComb. If you have any knowledge of Williams family or May family living there around or after that time. If you have knowledge of anyone or have anyone that might know I would really appreciate it. I have hunted all through the census and unable to find them in 1930. thanks, Gladys
Hey, Melvin, thanks for the reply, but I was not the one with the original question about the Hutchisons. I was just trying to help the Fannings with their query. I did, however, live in McComb for about nine months, way back in 1959/60. I taught piano at McComb High School to junior high and high school students. I was fresh out of college and green as a gourd! I lived within walking distance of the high school. They probably have a new high school by now, maybe. I remembered the name of that town, Summit as being close to McComb. Since you folks in Mississippi are so very helpful, I will continue on with my search for people in your state! I am trying to add to the information in the book: "Families of Joseph and Isaac Wyatt (brothers) who were the sons of Zachariah ("Sacker") and Elizabeth (Ripley) Wyatt, of Durant's Neck, Perquimans County, North Carolina" I am looking for living descendants of these connected families: Joseph Wyatt Mitchell (b. 8/1/1886) He was involved in insurance, bonding, investment banking and real estate in Clarksville since 1911. Mrs. Maggie Calhoun (Pattison) Mitchell, his wife. Joseph and Maggie had two children: Margaret Pattison (Mitchell) Cooper (b. Mar. 5, 1916) (She married William Wert Cooper who was a Civil engineer with the Levee Board.) Joseph Wyatt Mitchell, Jr. (b. 12/16/1917) He graduated from Mississippi State College in 1938. In 1950 he was an Army Capt. and living at Ft. Sill, Okla. He married Patricia Louise (McCoy) Mitchell. In 1950, they had no children. *************************** To go back to Margaret and William Cooper -- They had 2 children by 1950: William Wert Cooper, Jr. (b. June 2, 1940) Maggie Pattison Cooper (b. July 14, 1948) If anyone knows anything about any of these people or their descendants, I would appreciate hearing from you. Dear Sue, Patsy and Bernard, Thank you! You folks are just amazing! Thank you for all of the information. Patsy, did you find that Woodlawn Cemetery survey on the internet? If so, where can I find it? Bernard, I will ask you this since you actually remember the Hutchison brothers. Do you think there were any children or is this the end of James Thomas Hutchison's line? Again, thank you for the information. I hope I'll need some more information from Mississippi before I am finished! I am looking for 3 brothers or their descendents who were living in Summit, Mississippi about 1950. They were the children of James Thomas Hutchison (b. 10/5/1878 - d. 6/16/1949 in Summit) and Maud (Gent) Hutchison (b. 5/1/1890). The brothers are: George David Hutchison, born March 21, 1912. He owned an electrical supply business at Summit. He was/is practically blind. He was married to Mary (Turner) Hutchison b. Mar. 4, 1918. Edward Gent Hutchison, Lawyer, born July 12, 1914 in Summit. Roy Shelton Hutchison, born June 19, 1921. He was associated in business with his brother George David Hutchison at Summit. This information is from the book: "Families of Joseph and Isaac Wyatt (brothers) who were the sons of Zachariah ("Sacker") and Elizabeth (Ripley) Wyatt, of Durant's Neck, Perquimans County, North Carolina" Both this family and I am listed in the book. I would like to gather more recent information concerning the people who are listed in the book. If anyone knows anything about this family I would appreciate hearing from them. Thanks so much to all who responded to my message about obtaining a 1972 death certificate. The Dept of Health did send me my great grandmother's dc (died in 1937) which had Dixie Irby listed as the informant. Dixie was the youngest and all her siblings were deceased and from what I have been able to find out, she had no children. A friend was listed as the informant in the "C.O. Pate Funeral home records." I got that info along with her obit from the MS Gen Society. I called the funeral home and they said they did not keep any records from that far back. Unfortunately I did put purpose of request as genealogy. it has been a year since my last request so maybe I should try again and hope that they don't remember me. I would be almost satisfied if I could just get her father's name and her place of birth. She is definitely my greatgrandmother's daughter but I question whether my greatgrandfather was her father. I also have conflicting information on her date and place of birth. She was born Lulu PARRISH and died Dixie IRBY. I haven't been able to find her marriage record yet so I'm really counting on her death certificate. I realize this "friend" might not have known this information it's worth a try. Anyway, you've all been great so thanks again. If anyone needs any info from Alameda County, CA, let me know. Beverly

Until you can obtain the death record I suggest that you obtain her obituary which hopefully will contain good information. The funeral home should have a copy and also the newspapers where she lived. Perhaps she also had next of kin who have a copy and will provide you with a photocopy of it. Try the funeral home that was used. They keep records of the information provided for the death certificate. I have had good luck being allowed to see their records. A few years ago I was renewing my passport and looked at my original birth certificate. It was so ratty looking that it did not even look like it was certified. I sent for a new one to the Mississippi state offices of vital stats, etc. They turned me down - I had not sent enough information. I did have birth and death certificates for both of my parents so I copied those items and repeated my request. I got my new and improved cerified birth certificate. If you have any such doccumentation to show a kinship you might copy it and request the information again. Hi Beverly, The only way that you can obtain a death certificate for this age range is to be a very close relative such as a (Children,Mother,Father,Sister,Brother). You may try asking a her child, sister or brother. Or You can send a letter stating that you only want the deceased parents and place of birth, along with a SASE. This works for me at time. Sorry I could not be more help.
