I was given the following obit. I was told it was from Shiawasse Co. I would like to find where she is buried but don't know where South Vernon cemetery is located: Funeral Services for Mrs. Hulett Well known Resident is Buried in South Vernon Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer A. Hulett were held in the Baptist church last Saturday afternoon, Rev. A.R. Gold officiating. Interment took place in South Vernon cemetery. Mrs. Hulett died Tuesday, Nov. 24. Alice Clarissa Barber was born July 26, 1869 in Fayett, Michigan. She was married to Robert Ross in November, 1885. Three sons and one daughter were born to this union. In 1918 she was married to Elmer A. Hulett. She is survived by the husband; two sons, Verne Ross, of Lesli, and Ellsworth Ross, of Durand; one daughter, Grace J. Hulett, of Durand. There also is a brother, Franklin Barber of Durand; a sister, Mary Jane Foor, of Saginaw, and fourteen grand children. Of course the obit didn't have a year!!!!!! I believe she died before 1923 because her brother Franklin died in 1923. I've just cruised the cemetery sites. Found Elmer Hulett buried with his wife, Ella M. Hulett-no mention of Alice Clarissa Barber/Ross/Hulett. Hulett's are in Lovejoy Cemetery, Durand. Didn't find Robt. Ross, but did find Terry Vern Ross, possible family member, buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon, Mi. If I remember, I'll look it up in the books at the library. Hi Nancy, Thank you so much for your help. When I was given the obit it did not have a year on it. I tried to find her place of burial but came up empty. This obit was taken from an old family scrap book. I wonder if she ended up being buried with her first husband Robert Ross since she was married a very short time to her 2nd husband. Carolyn, Something wrong with that date of death if before 1923 cause 24 Nov on a Tues. would only be in 1908, 1914 and 1925. It would have been on Tuesday in 1920, but think that is Leap Year, so went to Wed. I used the date calculator in PAF, my genealogy program. I also think the cemetery referred to is Greenwood, cause in "The Michigan Cemetery Source Book" the only cemetery shown for Vernon Twp. that was listed in Vernon (the town?) is Greenwood. Chalker and Gardner Grave is in Durand. No place shown for Lovejoy Cemetery, only Sec. 33, Prior Rd. The Geographic Names Information System states that Lovejoy is in Durand also. And that Greenwood is in Corunna. The obit is probably referring to the township name I also searched the Greenwood Cemetery inscriptions on the Shiawassee Co. web page and didn't find Alice under the name Barber, Ross or Hulett. Maybe she had no tombstone? Found this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a.. ID: I638666843 a.. Name: Alice Clarissa (Clara) BARBER a..
