My research has turned out the same. My American family started out in Fairfield county. I have some maps from various times that show the county line changes. Ovid was in the area. Fairfield no longer shows on many maps. Most of these townships moved either to Gratiot County or into Shiawassee. If you are serious I will be happy to dig out the county line changes and try to inform you as to there movement. I don't have the actual dates but did trace the confusion my father left with me.
