Is there any mention of James and Elizabeth (Fuller) Worden or Major (Dunforth) Worden, in the Owosso A-Z book? I know they were in the Ovid and Greenbush area . Thank you, Tammy
Hi Tammy ~~~ 1st question - - what is the Owosso A - Z book? I don't think I have that. But, as for Elizabeth (Fuller) Worden or Major (Dunforth) Worden, there were many Wordens that lived (during those early times) in the Owosso - Ovid area and I'm quite sure they were all related and originally from that same area of Manlius - Rochester NY area. I have found more than one Major Worden in registries - - our Danforth is listed as being born in Manlius. There was another Major DUNFORTH listed and married to another woman, and a Major - - - - Worden also and I think they were all cousins or something. There also were some Wordens in Vestaburg, MI which is in the same area. There were calling cards (fancy ones, with colored roses etc printed on them) that indicated Wordens in Ovid and associated with IOOF and other fraternal organization.....I'll see if I can find those when I get that stuff out. Also, there were a BIG bunch of Wordens living in Grand Rapids and they had a furniture factory (listed in the city roster book of 1800's), plus they apparently hired other relatives as they were listed as employee of that furn. co. Since Major Danforth Worden first bought property over near Ionia, which is on the way from St. Johns to Grand Rapids, I feel this was probably where the highway was at that to access middle Michigan, and also that (Ionia) is where Major Danforth Worden registered his Greenbush property location and purchase - - at the assay office (this record is in the BLM federal records). But as for James and Elizabeth - - is this your gr grandfather? Is that the name of your great grandmother? If so, I will put it in my records.......
