Thank you so much, Leota. This is great information. I remember my mother talking about Asksah. She had some interesting stories about her, but none of these. Mother, Irene Vandemark, lived in Michigan until her family moved to Chicago, but she always spent summers in Fairfield Township with her grandparents, Gilbert and Frances Sawyer, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and with her other grandparents, Charlie and Polly Vandemark who had a farm near Byron. Mother used to mention someone named "Leota". Are you the one she was talking about? The list I originally posted were aunts, uncles, and first cousins of my mother. All lived in the Elsie and Owosso area, most on farms. Little of the Sawyer family is left in the Elsie area. As in many communities, most have moved off to other areas of the US. I visited the wonderful Elsie Historical Library last summer. You have such great information on the area. I encourage anyone needing information from the area to contact or visit the Elsie Historical Library. On Wednesdays, volunteers staff the room and will help you locate information from their extensive family files including census data and cemetery data for the area and can provide you with copies of all their data. In addition, school children previously were asked to do family histories for school project. Then, most donated copies to the library. I found great information in two visits I made to the library. I would love to have some photos of Acksah. She was my mother's first cousin. Thank you again for posting this information on this email contact list. He was killed in an automobile accident when I was little, but I remember Akhsah very well. My sister, who is 14 years older than I am, loves to tell how she worked for Akhsah for 10 cents an hour cleaning house. The pictures may take me a little while to find, but I feel sure I can come up with some. Do you need obituaries on any of the Sawyers or Loynes? I may be able to find some of them, also. Let me know the names of those you would like. If you don't have their death dates, I may be able to find those, too, if they died around the Elsie area. Ebenezer Litchfield was the son of Joseph Litchfield and Julia Nethaway. Julia was Joseph's second wife. His first wife was Dorcus "Doris" Downie, my great grandmother's sister. Doris died at a very young age. She and Joseph did not have any children. My family kept Joseph in the family and included Julia in the family, too. I heard my grandmother speak of her many many times. We have a lot of things about the Litchfields in our local historical room. Leota Kajdas
