Hello fellow Shiawassee researchers, This is my first time posting here. We have 4 family lines that have history in Shiawassee Co. I am looking for any info or ideas for researching the following people: Wallace GLEASON, our ggrandfather, who lists Philander Gleason as his father on his marriage application, dated 07 July 1890, but mother unknown. His age is 21, but on the 1900 census, his birthday is listed as Sept. 1871. In 1910 his wife, Ella FERRIS is married to an Edward Hazel and living with them are 2 of Wallace's 3 sons, Frank and George. Leo is missing. Wallace P Gleason married Frances Laura DOUCETTE, on Dec. 24, 1907, but I don't know if that is the same Wallace or not. The only Philander GLEASON I have been able to find is in the 1870 census, with daughters Maria, Margaret, Charlotte, and 2 month old Philander J. That may be a wrong age for baby Philander, because father Philander's wife, Ruth REYNOLDS, died in April of 1870, age 45. Father Philander dies in 1879, after marrying Elizabeth DECKER in 1973. I have no further record for baby Philander anywhere. I have wondered if Philander J and Wallace could be the same son, but no evidence to that fact. On an IGI individual record (Family Search International Genealogical Index), someone listed Wallace's mother as simply "Arthuse." Don't know if that is a last or first name. Some kind person looked for Wallace Gleason at the Shiawassee District Library for me, but with no results. Any ideas out there or info? My 2nd missing person is Fred F or T BROWN, another great grandfather, b. 1869, in Caledonia, Shiawassee. He was the son of Martin T BROWN, (b. 1870 in Jefferson Co. NY,) and Augusta KINGSBURY. Fred married Louisa CANNAVEN 009 May 1891, and is listed with wife and children, Oliver and Roxy, (our grandmother), on the 1900 census, but that is the last record I have of Fred. Louisa is married to Sandford TRAVIS on the 1910 census. I have checked Shiawassee cemeteries online, with no luck for either Wallace Gleason or Fred Brown. Any idea or info out there? Any help would be most appreciated! Judith Gleason _________________________________________________________________ http://homepage.msn.com/zune?icid=hmetagline
In the 1870 Michigan census, there is an Ella Ferris, age 6 listed. She is the daughter of Jacob Ferris in Hazelton Township, Shiawassee County. Is this your Ella? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Gleason" <gleason-clan@hotmail.com> To: <MISHIAWA@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 19, 2007 5:10 PM Subject: [MISHIAWA] GLEASON, FERRIS, REYNOLDS, BROWN, KINGSBURY, CANNAVEN,TRAVIS surnames > Hello fellow Shiawassee researchers, > This is my first time posting here.
