    1. [MISHIAWA-L] Drebenstedt genealogy
    2. Tina McGarry
    3. Greetings! I am a new subscriber. My research interest is in the Drebenstedt family. There are several branches in the United States. Personally, I am descended from the Iowa/Missouri line. I noticed an obituary submission for Shiawassee County that includes the name "Elvira Drebenstedt". If anyone on this list has a connection with the Drebenstedt family, I would like to hear from you. Thank you, Tina McCain-McGarry also: [email protected]

    1. SMITH/POOLE/WOODEN Leicester > Geneva > Shiawassee

    3. Looking for the parents of John and Mary (POOLE) SMITH of Leceister, England who immigrated with a family of 15 children in 1827 to Geneva, NY via the port of Philadelphia, PA. My John SMITH lived to be over 104 years of age!: b.1-24-1772 in Leicester (3rd-gen. Blacksmith by trade). d.12-18-1876 in Philadelphia; buried in Geneva, NY. John married Mary POOLE of Lutterworth, Eng. (b.abt.1780) on 6-23-1801 at St. Mary de Castro in Leicester, Eng. They had 15 children, of which I descend from their 8th child, Wm W. My William W. SMITH (1815-1904) married Rebecca WOODEN of Waterloo, NY (1821-1892) on 1-10-1843 in Geneva, NY. William and Rebecca immigrated via the Erie Canal to Michigan and became Pioneer Settlers in Shiawassee Co. in 1850. Four more generations of SMITHs (of which I descend directly) farmed Wm.& Rebecca's 210-acre Burns Twp., Shiawassee Co. settlement as a successful dairy farm until WW-2. Ironically, this dairy farm is still in operation today (owned by only the second family) on the same land settled by Wm.& Rebecca 150 years ago! B. C. Smith Rockford, Michigan [email protected]

    1. Re: 1900 Census
    2. Hi Sue, Since one of the places you are seeking information is from Saginaw County, Michigan, post your information and see if someone picks it up. One guaranteed way though is to contract with a researcher in that county. I have always had good luck with a guy named Duane Miller. He's a researcher in Merrill, Michigan, about 20 miles from Saginaw. He knows the Hoyt Library and all points of Saginaw County like the back of his hand. He even found the graves of several relatives in a couple of little off-the-beaten-path cemeteries there. My family was from Merrill, Hemlock, Saginaw, Midland and all-points near there. For a simple lookup he charges about half the going rates (whatever that is right now). I've used him to help me in the counties I'm currently researching, (Eaton, Bay, Shiawassee, Wayne, Saginaw and Midland), so I 'm certain your leads in those counties will work out. You'll have to contact him directly at: [email protected] I used to have more info about him but I can't find it. Please accept this in the spirit in which it was intended; that of helping a fellow genealogy buff, and not an advertisement since I do live 2000 miles from there. Best wishes for a successful search! Sincerely, Kevin O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA Researching: Bean, Cross, Dorchester Gauley, Gillie, Halley, Lowe, Nelson, Perkins, Shannon, Smith ( Jefferson County, NY),Sundell, Van Schaick, Warner...

    3. Dear Jack and Marianne Dibean: I went into the Detroit New Paper thinking that since it was a large city , it might be listed. When I typed in (search for) Owosso Argus Press, nothing came up under newspapers in MI. Did I have the correct state? You can click onto the search engine of your Internet Explorer and type in the name closest to your small city, it should come up. I beleive some one told me that Lansing was the closest to Owasso or you might want to check Shiaweesee. I'm in Texas! Good Luck!
