Dear Nancy Post, I'm sorry, I deleted your message, but as I remember it: No, Mary Louise Hickmott (Married name, Goward) was NOT related to a Post. I am still looking, I may have something before the night is over. Gary Veale [email protected]
Dear Nancy, I have some information on Mary Louise Hickmott, who lived in and was married in Shiawassee County. Gary Veale [email protected]
My Hickmott family traces back to Stephen Hickmott who lived in Shiawassee County in the late 1800's. I am looking for any information on his family. Here's what I have so far: Stephen Hickmott born in England in July 1823, died in 1910. Buried in West Haven Cemetery, Shiawassee County. He appeared on the census record for Avon Township, Oakland County in 1860 with Eliza J (his wife) and John and Mary Hickmott (presumably his parents - they were old enough to be). Then from 1870 to 1900 he appears on the census for New Haven Township, Shiawassee County. I believe he applied for citizenship in 1856. Children of Stephen and Eliza J. (I don't know Eliza's maiden name) were: Bert (born 1877) Melvin (born 1864) Frank (born 1867) James (born 1871) Fred S. (born 1874) William (born 1870) Bert married Anna Workman in 1901. Anna died in 1914. After she died, the family was broken up as Bert was out of work and the family had been supported by the county. Bert and Anna had the following childeren: Della John (born 1913) Charles (born 1903) Raymond (born 1904) Kenneth (born 1908) and two others (known from 1910 census - Anna was mother of 5 with 3 living at the time) Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy Rivers
Geroge Washington McCurdy, died 1924; wife Mary Phillips died 1916

Hello, Was wondering if someone with access to city directories could do a look up on a John Dowdigan (sometimes spelled Dowdigan) living in Owasso around 1910-1920. Also any other Dowdigan would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Judy
About a week ago there was an email on this list concerning a man married to a woman named SPRINGER. Sorry I don't remember the names. This email was deleted before I could reply. My ancestor, JOHN TOOKER (b.1837 Ohio, d 1919 Michigan) and his wife ELIZABETH SPRINGER moved from their home in Richland County, Ohio to Shiawasee Co Michigan. I have no idea why they moved there, and wonder now that the Springers were from there?? Does anyone know anything about this family? Marilyn Gallaway Ohio

Hello, I am looking for information on the Mills family of Shiawassee County. Peter Mills (born in NY about 1814) with wife Elizabeth (Springer) moved to Shiawassee ca. 1845. They lived in Burns Township. Their children were George E., Isaac L, William Orlando, Marion, and Peter. I am trying to determine Peter's death date and his parents' names. His father's name may be Isaac, but I am trying to find proof. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Sue Sadowski

Hello, I am researching my family surnames of White and Washousen who lived in Livingston and Shiawasee counties. The key individuals I am researching are: My g-grandfather, Lewis White born 1868 in New York resided in Burns Township according to 1900 census. He was married to Carrie O. Washousen in 1890. The 1900 census for Burns Township shows 3 sons, Fred, John and my grandfather, Archie who was born in 1893. Also living with them in 1900 as was Lewis's father, Isaac White, born 1836 in New York. Family records show that Carrie and Lewis also had boys named Henry, Lester and Ray. Later they had daughters, Adellah and Dollie before their separation around 1907. Lewis White is thought to have remarried. I would appreciate any information or assistance that anyone can provide on my family. Regards, Mel Suelzle [email protected]

New to the Michigan Collection is county and township maps for Gratiot, Clinton, and Shiawassee Counties. The township maps show the sections, schools, and cemeteries. They are from the 1916 Bowen's Michigan Atlas. I will be adding the rest of the counties as time permits. Tonight I added the 1925 Laingsburg High School graduating class. dale [email protected] www.willett.org --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
