    3. Before this discussion gets out of hand, as list administrator, please let me say that so far nothing has been posted to this list that is against the rules. Now before anyone gets upset and begins to feel that the a few of the posts made have been done so in order to make a buck, please think about the following. If you visit the link sent by Mr. Boyd, you will find two things there, 1.) pictures from the Byron School that are there for you to see at no cost to you and 2.) an offer to send you a copy of that print at a cost if you want to order it. The way I see it, no rule has been broken. He isn't charging you a thing to view pictures some of you might find useful in your research. As to Mr. Willett's post to this list, the same applies. His website holds a substantial amount of material at no cost to researchers that they might have to pay dearly for if they had to hire someone to do, or travel to this area to do, thier research. That is what this list and Rootsweb is about. Access to free genealogical data and helping one another find their ancestors. I am not promoting using this list to advertise websites that are commerical in nature and I will not hesitate to put a stop to any posts that I believe are of that nature. So far, I don't believe any have been and I read all the postings to this list. List administrator, Bonnie [email protected]

    3. I have been searching the archives of the Rootsweb lists and see that DALE WILLETTS STEDMAN advertises his products on all the the Rootsweb lists that he subscribes to. This is his signature on one of his messages on the Lapeer list: Shop at the willett.org store: www.cafepress.com/michiganhistory Stedman.Willett.Bovee.Lindsey.Fleming.Harman.Patton.Tereau.Hesch" I found examples of his advertising his site on the Shiawassee list, Lapeer list and the Washtenaw list using the archives. This is the hipocrite that complained about Rich Boyd sending a message to the lists advertising old school pictures. Mr. Willetts...you ought not to critizise..... 3. Mr. Boyd, The last I knew, using these lists for commercial ventures, is in violation of the user guidlines. You have went from skirtting the rules to using your post to sell your photos. Might I suggest, that if you wish to sell, then take your business to eBay or the like. Do not clutter our mail boxes with your ads. 3. I recently finished reading a new book on the Civil War "A Distant Thunder - Michigan in the Civil War" that has a write up on George Sidman from Owosso who joined the 16th Michigan Infantry as a drummer boy and went on to become a soldier and was awarded the Medal of Honor. Was wondering if there were any of the Sidman relatives still in the Owosso area. 3. Dear list friends, I have been involved in creating and maintaining the websites for Shiawassee and Clinton Co.'s MIGenWeb, American Local History Network and American History and Genealogy Projects for several years as well as being the list administrator for the county email lists. It is with sadness that I must announce I am no longer able to continue as the coordinator of these projects. I am having some health problems which make it all but impossible for me to type these days so must find someone else capable of taking over this worthwhile task. If there is anyone subscribed to either list that is interested in becoming the webmaster for either or both counties, please contact privately. I have several projects that have been donated by some of you and I am working on them as I can to get them uploaded. It is a slow process right now so please be patient. I will continue as the coordinator until a replacement is found and established. All information now located on the USGenNet server will be moved to the Michigan American Local History Network's pages, as I have gifted all the information to the Michigan American Local History Network. What this means is, that as long as this project remains online, the information I have compiled for Shiawassee and Clinton Co.s, will remain online and free of charge to anyone who wishes to access it. The new web address will be sent to both lists as well as placed on the current website. I have enjoyed getting to know some of you and helping you with your research in both Clinton and Shiawassee Counties. I will continue to be a part of this list helping whenever I can. Good luck to you all. Bonnie [email protected]

    1. REED, EVARTS, EVERTS,EVERET, WOLCOTT, WOOLCOT
    2. Theresa Lindamood
    3. Hello, I have been on the list for some time but thought I would put my information out there again, in case I could find some new information. My brick wall is Solomon Evarts MD, last name also found Everts and his widows name is mispelled Everet on the 1860 census. He is listed as teaching in the Durand District about 1841 and his name has been found on some papers as Justice of the Peace. In 1847 he married Jane Reed, daughter of William K. Reed and Minerva Woolcot (Wolcott). I am descended from their daughter Alice Evarts who was a teacher and later married Benjamin Wolcott, a second cousin, and lived in Mecosta County before moving to Washington State. Other children listed on the 1870 census are Guy, Lucy and a daughter whose name is indecipherable, looks like Emma or Eunice or another E name. I would like to find out more information on any of the above people. I have no death date for Solomon Evarts/Everts. I thought surely a doctor's death would be recorded somewhere, but have not found anything. It would have been in the 1860s. I have not found anything on any of his children other than Alice my gg grandmother. Solomon Everts was on the 1850 census in Shiawassee and Jane Everet, widow, with the children in Vernon on the 1870. Any infor or suggestions would be appreciated! Theresa

    3. List: I have a newspaper obituary for my great-grandfather's brother, Archibald WRIGLEY No name of newspaper or date. Archibald was a farmer in Shiawassee twp. - the newspaper article mentions that he was a farmer "in this county", also that he lived at 622 North ball St. and that he was buried in Oak Hill cemetery. I suspect that the town was Owosso. Are there any other possible places? I haven't found an online transcription of Oak Hill cemetery - although I think I saw that a printed transcription was available for $43 (but the link to the site didn't work). Does anyone have a copy of this transcription - would it be possible to look up Archibald Wrigley for me? His wife's name was Eunice, and she died after Archibald (no years known) Thanks Mary (Toronto)
