I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Carrie WRIGHT which was taken at the Denniston Studio in Laingsburg, Michigan. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with Carrie appearing to be in her late teens at the time. I'm hoping to locate someone from Carrie's family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Was wondering if someone living in Shiawassee Co. might be able to please look up a marriage for me. A regular copy would do and could be either snail-mailed or scanned and e-mailed to me. I would, of course, reimburse you for the copy. Charles Eliakim Wardwell and Ida Letitia Ingersoll Supposed marriage date: Oct. 14, 1879 in Owosso, Shiawassee Co., MI Thank you, Lori K. Houston, TX

My great grandfather, James Tyrrell and his brother Patrick Tyrrell arrived in Shiawassee Township around 1854. Their farms were located on present day Cork Rd., south of Grand River Road. The Tyrrell brothers were originally from the townland Rathshanmore in County Wicklow, Ireland. My great grandfather, Henry Hutchings, along with his brothers Aaron Hutchings, Court Hutchings; brother in laws, John Herrick and Jordan Holcomb arrived in Bennington Township around 1835. The Hutchings were originally from Wilson, Niagara County, New York. I am researching the descendants of these families. Patrick Tyrrell who grew up on the Tyrrell farm on Cork Rd., but now living in Wisconsin.
Would the person who e-mailed me about the "Curtis" family name, please contact me again. The Curtis line that I'm researching along with my cousin Sally comes from the "Seth Curtis" line in NY. He married a Mary Ann Case, sister of our Peter Case, b. 1799. Some of the Curtis family came to the Howell/Brighton area in MICH. My interest in Curtis is to know more about the Case klan. We are of no blood to the Curtis family. Lynn Najduk Mills

Need help in locating photographs of W.E. King aka Ward Everett KING born January 18, 1892 born in Genoa Twp, Livingston County son of William S (?Sciton) and Mary BEATTIE KING of Marion,Livingsston County,MI Ward King is featured in the Michigan County Histories more specifically Local History and Personal Sketches of St. Clair and Shiawassee Counties Ward King worked in elevator business in Byron Township, Shiawasee County, MI Ward KING married Nina Mae KEYES in 1912. Nina Mae KEYES was daughter of George "Caton" and Eva Mae FRASER KEYES. Caton KEYES was a prominent farmer in Byron and Gaines, Genesee County, Michigan. Ward and Nina KEYES had only one child, a daughter, Dorothy Mae. Dorothy married Robert John KERNS (aka KEARNS) on October 2, 1936. Ward and Nina KEYES with their daughter Dorothy, by the 1930 census were living in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan. Ward was a prominent man especially in Laingsburg. He was the president and one of the organizers of the Laingsburg Commercial club, and also the president of the Laingsburg Village. He was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows, Star Lodge and Rebekah Lodge (perhaps these were in Port Huron, St Clair County, where he and his wife retired to). Ward KING died in 1965 in Port Huron. Nina Mae KING, his wife, died in 1976. Someone out there must have photographs out there of Ward KING. Is there anyone I can contact, a museum. Does the Laingsburg Commerical Club still exist? Don't they keep old photographs of past presidents of the Laingsburg Village and former clubs? Phone numbers would be nice for any of the above. Thanks again, I will keep posting, someone out there must have something or where to go. Thank you very much. Judy [email protected]

My surnames in Shiawassee Co. are Ames and Crawford. I believe the Ames, George and Alice, had changed their surname from Brandow (Huron Co. MI) to Ames after their daughter, Myrtle b. 1904, was kidnapped as a baby. They didn't get her back until she was age 12. They lived in Genesee Co., Grand Blanc when the child was taken. Would like to find out more. I have a newspaper article from when she was found, but struck out finding anything in the Flint paper from when she was taken. She was kidnapped on a Saturday and the film did not have Sunday on it, so maybe there is something in that paper. My gr-gm, Martha Jane Stone Pervorse married a Benjamin Crawford abt. 1904 and lived in Durand at least through 1920. But Benjamin died in 1916.
