    2. Robert S. Swenson
    3. My wife's GG aunt Electa W. Wilbur married, a second time. Andrew Perry in Lapeer County on 29 Jan 1883. They soon moved (from Oakland or Lapeer counties) to farm in Hazelton Township near New Lothrop in Shiawassee Co. where they lived the rest of their lives. Electa died on 12 May 1908 in Pontiac and is purportedly buried in Elmwood Cemetery (Shiawassee Co.) (Her M2 Andrew Perry, d. 26 Jun 1914 in Oakland, Oakland and may also be buried at Elmwood.) Andrew & Electa's 3 sons were Oliver (1885- ). Oren (1886 - aft 1930) and Ira (1891-1975). Does anyone have access to Shiawassee burial records, and obituaries, of Andrew & Electa? Sincerely, Bob & Carol Swenson

    3. Hi Bob, I am probably not the Hammond historian but my mother was a Hammond and I have quite a bit of data on my Hammond web page. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~confido/hamm1.html Also, you are a Harris and since you are subscribed to the Shiawassee County, Michigan, I wonder if you are a part of my Harris family. My great grandfather was Alexander R. Harris 1835-1911 who lived in Brady Twp, Saginaw County, Michigan. My Harris line is at this site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~confido/hindex.htm Richard G. Boyd P.S. Are you subscribed to my Harris-Hunter discussion list at Rootsweb? 1. FRASER, children of James FRASER & Mary Ann JAYNES part 3
    2. Sanderson FRASER born Jan 28, 1863 in Canada. As far as I know, we have no middle initial for Sanderson. The last residence we have for Sanderson FRASER is in the 1880 census for Argentine Twp, Genessee County, Michigan. Yet he is alive according to his mother in the 1900 census (all 8 of her children are alive). I have tried various spellings of FRASER to no avail. Perhaps he went by another first name. If anyone can help out, would be much appreciated. Etta E. FRASER born July 26, 1865 in New York. So by 1865, James FRASER & Mary Ann JAYNES have moved to Lockport, Niagara County, New York (probably from Haldimand Twp, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada). Last know residence for Etta E. FRASER is Argentine Twp in the 1880 census. I do not know who she might have married. Was she known by "Ettie"??? Judy

    1. FRASER information part 2--Stephen I. FRASER
    2. Stephen I. FRASER born Oct 8, 1859 in Canada. Wonder if his middle initial is for Isaac. If I recall correctly, Stephen was the first to migrate to Michigan or he did so with his parents or they followed Stephen(well other than Charles of whom I do not know when he migrated except that Charles & his brother Stephen were both in the town of Galien, Genesee County, Michigan 1880 census). Stephen's occupation in the 1880 census was a Mill hand. Stephen I. FRASER married Alice M. ATHERTON (daughter of Cyrus ATHERTON and Martha FINCH). (I have information on the ATHERTON family). Alice was born Dec. 19, 1863 in Gaines, Genesee County, Michigan. I think their marriage date is Sept 22, 1878. Their children were: Ernest born May 11, 1879 in Gaines Bud born July 13, 1880 in Gaines Glen born July 30, 1884 in Owosso Iva born May 10, 1886 in Owosso I think from all my notes, I was unable to locate Stephen & family in the 1910 census (course name could have been a variation spelling or was not counted). By 1900, one of their sons had died (do not know which one yet) and wonder if "Bud" was a nickname for another name. Alice indicated she had 4 children, 3 still living, in the 1900 census 2 children remaining at home. Stephen was a grocery clerk (we think it's hard to read) in the 1900 census...June 21, 1900 in Owosso City, Shiawassee County, Michigan. Their children Glen age 15 and Iva age 14. They lived at 622 Veuhovy Street North (sp on the street name). By 1920 census (or had he migrated in 1910 census), Stephen is now in Portland, Oregon (I assume the 2 brothers were close as he is now located in same area in Portland as his brother Charles). 1920 6th day June census Prct 287, Portland, Oregon. Stephen age 60 is Manager of Fraternity Chch and with wife & son live at 1220 Burrage St. (for naturalization/citizenship = 1864/NA/1870) Glen; age 35; remains single; and is Grain Handler for Docks (probably we think got the job via his Uncle Charles FRASER). From a free 1930 census look up: Name: S Stephen Fraser Age: 70 Estimated birth year: abt 1860 Birthplace: Canada Relation to head-of-house: Lodger Race: White Home in 1930: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon Census Place: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: 1949; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 66; Image: 869.0. line 19, at 246 Solomon? We think this is Stephen FRASER, what is strange is the following is for his wife & son for 1930 census: Name: Alice M Fraser Age: 67 Estimated birth year: abt 1863 Birthplace: Michigan Relation to head-of-house: Head Race: White Home in 1930: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon Census Place: Portland, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: 1953; Page: 7B; Enumeration District: 452; Image: 783.0. lines 81-, can't read address, taken April 7-10, sheet 7B, FRASER Alice M, h/h, owns, $3500, f w 67y Div, b.MI, parents/NY, " Glenn, son m w 45y sngl, b.MI, fa.CAN, mo.MI, Grain handler/grain elevator, not a veteran, They do not appear to be living together?? I do not have any death dates for Stephen I. FRASER or his wife Alice M. ATHERTON. (or further information on any of the children) Judy

    1. ATHERTON,Alice M. who md Stephen I. FRASER
    2. Thank you to Janet out there for her 1870 census information. Alice M. ATHERTON married Stephen FRASER probably Sept 22, 1878. Alice M. ATHERTON's parents were probably Cyrus & Martha ATHERTON. In the 1870 census, she had a brother James age 12, and a sister, Jennie age 3. Cyrus occupation was Butcher. In the 1880 census Galien, Genessee County, Michigan Cyrus ATHERTON; age 52; born NY; Keeps Restaurant parents born ??? Martha ATHERTON; age 51 born NY Jennie; age 13 John; age 9 I noticed that pretty much all ATHERTON males in the Genessee and Shiawassee County 1870 census were born in New York; probably related to each other. Also what does "keep restaurant" mean? Did he own it or what?? Seeking ATHERTON kin out there and FRASER connections to this family. Thank you so much. Judy [email protected]

    1. ATHERTON,Alice M b Dec 1862 MI md Stephen FRASER 1878-lived Shiawassee Co
    2. Are there any kin related to ATHERTON, Alice M. born Dec 1862 in Michigan; parents born in Michigan??? The ATHERTONs I am sure we are related to would be Genesee County (Argentine or Gaines); but I do not know her parents' names. Alice M. ATHERTON married Stephen I. FRASER in 1878 probably Sept. 22, 1878. Stephen I. FRASER (middle name might be for Isaac) born 1857 or 1859 in Canada (son of James FRASER & Mary Ann JAYNES of Haldimand Twp, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada). In the 1880 census, Alice M. ATHERTON and her husband Stephen FRASER were residing in Galien, Genesee County, Michigan with one son Earnest; age 1; Stephen's occupation was Millhand. I do not know what happened to Earnest FRASER. By 1900 census, Stephen FRASER and wife Alice M. ATHERTON were residing in Owosso City, Shiawassee County as of June 21, 1900 at 622 ?Veuhovy Street North; he was grocery clerk. Stephen been in USA for 32 years, year 1868 coming to USA which was Lockport, Niagara County, New York with his parents. Stephen and Alice had 4 children altogether; 3 still living...do not know where the 3rd one is in the 1900 census....was Earnest or Ernest still living and married or elsewhere?? 2 children residing with them in 1900 census: Glen (or Glenn); son; born July 1884 in Michigan; and Iva (or Eva), daughter; May 1886. 1. LAHRING,Leslie & Beatrice (Mail carrier) died 1994 & 1982 Benson,AZ
    2. I have made some phone calls to LAHRING listings in Michigan. One person I spoke with: his kin was a homesteader (Lewis LAHRING who was first married to Sally WHITEHEAD) in Byron, Michigan. His son now resides on the 150 y/o homestead. However has not heard of Culver or Leslie LAHRING. And yet Culver was with his brother Henry in the 1900 census for Burns Township (Byron area). Another married to a now deceased LAHRING heard that there were 2 brothers originally in Michigan; Byron and Holly, Michigan area. Leslie T. LAHRING born 10/7/1905 in Michigan (probably a retired mail carrier) died December 1984 in Benson, Cochise County, AZ Beatrice M. LAHRING born 3/9/1905, died June 1982 in Benson, Cochise County, AZ. Did anyone know them when Leslie was mail carrier in Durand? Did they have any children? Thank you Judy [email protected]

    1. LAHRING/FRASER
    2. Just wanted to thank you all in public who have replied by sending web sites, by sending census information, etc. on this so uncommon name of LAHRING aka LUHRING. (is not even listed at genforum nor rootsweb surname lists). So hoping to hear from a LAHRING kin. My great-grandmother's (Eva May FRASER who married George Caton KEYES) sister Genevieve "Jennie" B. FRASER born April 4, 1868 in New York, married Culver LAHRING; both were age 33 at their first marriage; and only had one son Leslie or Lester T. LAHRING. Eva May FRASER KEYES was elementary school teacher Byron, Michigan. Thanks to one of you also have Culver LAHRING & Jennie FRASER's burial place of Greenwood Cemetery. Hoping to track down their son; if possible. Have one other sister to locate as to who she married...Ettie E. FRASER born July 26, 1865 in New York. Again, Thank you; this web site is wonderful for offering assistance to seekers. Judy [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected])

    1. LAHRING,Culver b abt 1868 md Jennie B. FRASER b abt 1867 NY-Vernon Township
    2. There are not many LAHRING families out there; there is no genforum nor rootsweb index surname for LAHRING surname. I would imagine all the LAHRING family in Michigan were somehow all related to each other as there were not that many in all of Michigan even in the 1910 census. Those residing in Shiawassee county would have to be related to each other is my assumption. (and those in Argentine/Gaines, Genesee County, Michigan). Culver LAHRING's parents were born in Germany; and my guess is that Lewis & Elvira H. LAHRING of Argentine Twp, Genesee County; were they. Culver LAHRING born about 1868 in Michigan; I cannot locate him in the 1900 census. I am quite sure that he married Jennie B. FRASER (aka Genevieve) who was born about 1867 in New York; her parents James FRASER & Mary Ann JAYNES were born in Canada (Eng). Culver & Jennie LAHRING are living in the 1910 and 1920 censuses in Vernon Twp. They had been married for 9 yrs according to 1910 census. I believe they only had one child, a son. Leslie or Lester T. LAHRING born about 1906. Does anyone have any information on this family? death dates; where they might be buried, etc. Thank you so much Judy [email protected]
