I am the CC for that County MIGen Web I would be happy to list the information for you and your contact number. Perhaps, someone of the Randall Family will see it. Pamela Cutway Shiawassee CC -----Original Message----- From: Shelley Cardiel [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 10:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [MISHIAWA-L] RANDALL Family Photographs I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the RANDALL Family of Michigan. The first is a photograph of Grant RANDALL, likely taken when he was in his 20's probably sometime in the 1880's. There is no studio or location marking on the photograph; however, I believe the second photograph helps locate the area from which it likely originated. The second photograph is identified as Mrs. Grant (Cora) RANDALL. The second photograph was taken at the Lewis Studio in Elsie, Michigan probably sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Cora likely in her teens or 20's at the time. Based on limited research I believe that the first photograph may be one of Grant RANDALL the son of Francis & Cordelia RANDALL who were living in Tekonsha, MI during the 1880 census. Information regarding the family is as follows: Francis RANDALL, age 47, born NY, parents born CT Cordelia RANDALL, wife, age 52, born OH, Keeping House, parents born VT/PA Victor RANDALL, son, age 14, born MI Grant RANDALL, son, age 11, born MI Colfax RANDALL, son, age 10, born MI I then find Grant and his wife Cora in the 1900 census of Fairfield, MI, the records providing the following: Grant RANDALL, son, age 30, born Aug 1869, married 4 years, born MI, parents born NY/VT, a Farmer Cora C. 3. I have been trying to trace George Vernon Baker aka Vern Baker; my father, who was married to Sara Katherine McKenzie sometime around 1928. They were divorced in 1934 in Indiana. The information that I have is that they were married in Lansing, Mich. According to SS death index he died in 1997 his last known address was Laingsburg, Shiawasse county Mich. I have not been able to find any trace of him in that area at all. I tried the Mich. state library and the could not find an obituary from theLansing area for him.

    1. Laingsburg HS Yearbook 1921
    2. According to Laingsburg High School records, Velma Pope graduated in 1921. I have a photo which looks like a high graduation photo with "Day Studio Owosso" stamped in the corner. I am assuming through the process of elimination that this is Velma but I need to verify. Laingsburg High School has a great collection of graduation photos by year but 1921 is missing. Velma later married Robert Morehouse. Velma's parents were Irene and Terry Sherman Pope and she had a brother Floyd W. Her sister Edna Margaret died at 3 days. I also have a photo I am again assuming to be Floyd W. Pope graduation photo with "Bonnell Laingsburg" stamped on the corner. Floyd was Velma's younger brother. Laingsburg HS does not have a record or photo of him. Velma's mother Irene Colwell Pope Pritchard was a sister to my grandmother Lois Colwell Clements. Any help would be appreciated. I have some (not much) info to share on the Pope's but do have a lot on the Colwell/Clements side. Please e-mail to [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) Pat .

    2. Glenda Breslin
    3. I recently found the following obituary for Harriet (Hattie) LaClear, born Harriet Bell. It states she was taken into the home of Elias Comstock. It doesn't say her mother died. I had not been able to find her with her family in the 1860 census and wondered who she was living with. !1925 Obituary: Michigan, Shiawassee, Owosso. Obituary in the Obituary from Argus Press, Owosso, Michigan on March 9, 1925. “Mrs. Hattie LaClear, Pioneer, is Called. Mrs. Hattie LaClear died in Memorial hospital at 8"35 Sunday morning following an illness that has continued since September, the past 12 weeks having been spent in the hospital. The funeral, will be held from the home, 918 North Ball street, at 2:20 Tuesday afternoon, Rev. H. A. Watts officiating, and with burial at Oak Hill cemetery. ¶ Mrs. LaClear was born in September, 1858, in the house on West Main Street opposite St. Paul's Catholic church. She was taken into the home of Elias Comstock, and lived in the log cabin, now situation on West Main street and used as a museum, until she was 10 years f age. She then lived in a house at Ball and Exchange streets, until she moved to the house in which she has lived for many years past. ¶ Mrs. LaClear leaves one son, John, of Owosso. She was a member of the Baptist church, and until her hearing became affected, some time since, was very active in the work of the church.” Copy sent to Glenda Breslin by Julia Collins 8-05. [The obituary and the census record differ on her date of birth by a year.] I looked up Elias Comstock in the 1860 census: !1860 Census: Michigan, Shiawassee, Owosso. Hattie Bell (Comstock) in 1860 census according to her obituary. Elias Comstock household, 1860 U S Federal Census Shiawassee, Michigan, population schedule, Owosso First Ward, Shiawassee, Michigan. Roll: M653_560. Page: 0. Enumerated on 19 June, 1860. Lines 1-5. Dwelling number 661. Elizas Comstock, age 59, male, County Clerk, value of real estate $3000 and personal property valued at $600, born in Conn[eticut]. Lucy L. Comstock, age 54, female born in V[ermon]t.
