    3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 1376 prisoners on record from the state of Illinois and the almost 800 known from Illinois who died here, I thought I would send my offer. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. 1. RE: LIST RULES
    2. Jan Cortez
    3. I know we all want to do our genealogy - but I need to familiarize those new to the lists with what our policies are. Please have patience with me. Some of you know me as I have been the list administrator for several years. Others do not - as I have just taken over a couple of the lists in the last few months. My name is Jan Cortez and I have been doing genealogy websites and mailing lists for a couple of years now. I actually like to be very informal and not bother you in any way. As long as the lists are moving along and everyone is getting along - I'm happy - but there are some who wish to stick to topic. they are right - that is what the lists are for. The specific topic that they were started for. So here are the rules: 1. Topic needs to be genealogy and history specific to whichever county, state or country list that you are subbed to. If you feel the need to bring other things to the attention of the list - PLEASE clear them with me. 2. Please do not send virus warnings - unless they have been cleared with me. Many of them are hoaxes, getting people to delete needed files from their computers. Many members are new - and haven't experienced these types of mails yet. 3. Chain letters are not allowed. 4. No spamming, flaming, or swearing is allowed. Please try to always be considerate of others feeling. Treat others as you would want to be treated. Many people are newbies to the list and haven't been around forever like some of us. Try to remember back to when you first started and how awesome this all was. 5. Try not to have real lengthy discussions on the list - if you want to pursue the subject matter - try to take it off list. Its only being polite to those that are not interested in the thread. 6. ROLL CALLS will only be called by the List Administrator. I have quite a few lists and some are VERY large. Many going at the same time jam my mailbox big time. If I have become forgetful - send me a note and ask. 7. If you have a complaint against anyone who has posted to the list or their subject matter, please take that up with me - off list. If you don't have my email addy - send a simple note to the list asking for the List administrator to contact you. I will - as soon as I can. I do work though - so give me some time. 8. To unsubscribe to the list send a message to (X's being the name of your specific list) XXXXX-L-request@rootsweb.com with the word unsubscribe in the body of the message. Nothing else. To resub - you follow the same action only using subscribe in the body of the message. the same address using a "D" instead of an "L" if you are in digest form. 9. Problems adhering to these rules will result in a note from me to you personally - trying to resolve the matter. If after honest attempts have been made on both sides and the matter is not resolved - it may result in unsubbing you from the list. So lets try our best to get along. 10. Try to put surnames in the Subject line - and try to give time frames and areas. It really does help... 11. Best rule of them all - Enjoy the list - And post often it gets your message out. 1. HOLM, ROSENGREN, LUND
    2. Hello, I am new to this list. I am searching for my HOLM and ROSENGREN ancestors. John HOLM corresponded with Hanna ROSENGREN while Hanna was living in Finland. Hanna came to the US to be John's bride. She immigrated with her sister Anna, who married a mister RENARD. All lived in Ministique, Schoolcraft Co., MI. Hanna was a cook in a logging camp. We think John was a minister. The family eventually removed to Tacoma, WA, where they are buried... Daughter of John and Hanna was Irene Ethel Theresa HOLM (b. 04/13/1894 in Ministique). Irene married Axel LUND. All the surnames can be found in Ministique, Schoolcraft Co., MI. I found several entries for ROSENGREN, HOLM, and LUND (see below)... but before I send away and pay $10.00 each for the records, can someone please tell me if there is any cheaper method of obtaining copies of the records? perhaps copies, instead of certified certificates? ... also... does anyone know if a marriage record would probably or probably Not contain parents names of the bride and groom? I would be very appreciative of any suggestions :-) as I live in Vancouver, WA... Below I will post what I have found at the Schoolcraft county site, that I believe are siblings and descendants to my John, Hanna, and Anna. Thank you so much for your time.
