Shields is located in Thomas Township. It was name after two bachelor brothers who settled on 120 acres in section3 of Thomastown about 1842. Eventually, the southeastern part of the township came to be called the Shields area while remaining part was called Liskow area. It is known today as Thomas Township, but also as Shields.
