I grew up just north of Swan Creek Road and and M-52. As far as I know Shields is not a town or villiage. I may be wrong but Hemlock isn't either. With Hemlock, I believe it may have something to do with their Charter. Maybe someone on the list can explain all this. As a child I remember many trips to Shields to visit the Meat Market where mother purchased most of the meat for the family. Joe Whelton, the long time manager of Tri City Airport and Ed Murphy his assistant both listed Shields as their homes. It is in Thomas township but is definitely a spot on the map of Michigan, M46 about 7 miles west of Saginaw. Jerry Stevens
