Is there anyone on this list who could please give me some practical information on how I would be able to transfer FTM 7 files from a desktop PC to a laptop? I have Windows 95 and FTM 7 on my desktop. I am considering buying a laptop, but, I am getting conflicting advice from the sales people who are selling laptops on how I can move my Genealogy files from my old PC to a new laptop. If there is anyone on this list who has personally done this, successfully, I would so greatly appreciate hearing from you. Patricia
GEDCOM file would be easiest. I just transfered my files to a laptop...I love it!!!!!! Email me at WoWc_d@chartermi.net, if you want more help with it. I have a laptop and did this. I loaded the software onto my desktop. I then copied the FTW family file and the FTW backup file to my laptop. When I opened Family Tree maker I clicked on "file" and then "restore from backup". If you have any problems let me know.
