    1. [MISAGINA] Honor your Veteran!!!
    2. Carolyn Obertein
    3. I think we should take this weekend to honor the heros that made us who we are today. If you have a veteran you would like to boast about now is the time. Also, why they are your hero. I will add them to "Honor Our Veterans" section on the "Saginaw County Photographs" website. If you would like to email a photo of your veteran to go along with what you have written about your veteran I will make a special page for each veteran. Please post your veteran to this list for all to read. You can email me the photo at carolinsaginaw@yahoo.com. I would personally like to honor my husband, Wayne Obertein. He was part of the Vietnam conflict. I am so proud of him for never losing his humanity while stationed in Vietnam. I have been very honored that he has spoken to me about the time he spent there. He has spoken to me about the people which I find most interesting. He made friends with the people in the village close to his camp. He would spend time getting to know them and! sharing meals with them. When it came time for his unit to leave Vietnam there were 4 guys that still had 3 weeks left to put in. They were told that they could catch up with another unit when it arrived. The people of the village told him that since it would be a few days before the unit arrived that he should stay with them because it would be very dangerous for so few of them to remain alone. During those days the North Vietnames came into the village looking for him. One family hid him in a bench with a secret bottom and sat their children on top of the bench. They saved his life. To them I owe a world of gratitude. He has many pictures from when he served there. His mother saved all of his letters. I have put them into a book for future generations. We would sit with his pictures and I would take one at a time and ask him to tell me about that picture. I recorded and later transcribed his words. This will be a treasure to his gr gr grandchildren someday.Way! ne, I love you and and want to thank you for being our children's and my hero.Carolyn Obertein Census, Bios, Obits, Cemetery, Church, & Vet Photos, Platt & Cemetery Maps, Citizens, Vets, and Poll List - Visit the Saginaw County Photograph Website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~evansandobertein/saginaw.htm
