I wrote to the courthouse to get a copy of a death in Saginaw, Mi. The death occurred in 1904. I have a copy of the obituary, so I know when and where it occurred. I was hoping to obtain a copy of the death record to find the parent's names of the deceased. I sent $13.00 to cover the cost of the death certificate and was very disappointed when they wrote back to say that they had no death reported on the deceased and that my money was non refundable. Can someone tell me when it was required that a death be reported? Sincerely, Bonnie Researching Perry, Velie in Saginaw
Bonnie: Try the Hoyt Library and see what they can do to help you. Have you seen there obit site? I've sent my check three times, its been returned three times (requested more data than what I originally gave) and now I had to send my information into Lansing, MI. I'm hoping I get what I requested. Did you check the cemetery where your relative is buried. There good about giving info as well as the funeral home. Bonnie, I live in IL and three times I sent money (check) to MI requesting a death record (thinking I had submitted the info incorrectly...and three times they kept the money and told me they had no death listed for the person. However, I did find the obit where it should be.
