I visited the Oakland County Courthouse today to search out the naturalization papers of my g grandfather. I guess I was under the impression that I would find 'other things' along with the documents signed by my g grandfather. I had heard that it is possible to find letters, pictures, etc. I was also hoping to find when and with whom he emigrated. Acutally, I found nothing I didn't already know. What I found is basically what people told me was found in the index. There were only two documents. My question is this, Is this typical? Did they miss something, or was I expecting too much? They suggested I call the immigration office in Detroit for arrival information. Would that help if I have no idea when he came over? Can they find him just by name, or must they also have years, ship names, etc.? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated! I am stuck any help I can get. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Doug
