Hi Carolyn: I have just begun searching in Saginaw and I am looking for any Lingham information. The family moved from Ontario, Canada to Saginaw in 1867. The family consisted of Henry Lingham, wife Clarinda (Clara), children Florence, Mary and Aubrey. Brant Cemetery Sec headstones have been added to the site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~evansandobertein/saginaw.htm I would like to ask everyone for their New Year's wish list. If you could access any information about Saginaw Co. that you wanted....what would it be? Carolyn
Well, it sounds pretty easy to me, There are some very old stones there that you can hardly read. I know my great grandfather's is very hard to read..is there a secret to getting them to show up better...like dousing them with water? Also, when i did the Vasold cemetery I wrote down each inscription in a book as i did it, then marked each disk to correspond with the written page. i found it useful for the stones that didn't photograph well. Anyway, I will definitely do it, but probably not till warmer weather. Pat Carolyn Obertein wrote: >Hi Pat, >If you can walk, aim and push the button you can do this. Hi Pat, If you can walk, aim and push the button you can do this. Owen Cemetery would take about 3-4 hours total to do. You can do it all at one time or a few at a time. It is up to you. There is no time limit on when you need to finish. I set my digital camera at the lowest resolution and lowest quality and I think the photos still come out good for the website. Some tips I use when photographing headstones: 1. Don't cast your shadow on the headstone when photographing. 2. Get as close to the writing as possible. 3. Some stones show your reflection. In this case I try to stand to the side. 4. If you look through the lens and have trouble seeing the writing try standing off to one side or the other until you get the best possible shot. 5. Looking at the headstones in the Olive Branch Cemetery has 3 headstones dated with burials in 1882 as the earliest burials. The last burial was in 1938. This cemetery must have been established before 1900 because at least half of the headstones have a burial date before 1900.
