    1. Re: [MISAGINA] Re: Forest lawn & Brady hill Cemeteries
    2. Hi Shelly, As I searched my memory, it seems to me that I spoke to a woman at St. Andrew's Cemetery, who mentioned an old cemetery where the graves had been moved to an unknown location to make way for development. I thought I saw it on a city map in an old directory. I looked thru my printed copies, but didn't find it. A look thru the cemetery listings in old city directories might give some info. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this. I think I lost interest in pursuing it when I found my family buried in Calvary. Good luck. Pat

    3. In the back of St. Andrews Cemetery there is a marker telling of all the graves around it that were moved there from another cemetery. I can't remember which cemetery it said but there are many headstones there around it. Next time I am out that way I will check what cemetery the large marker said. St. Andrews Cemetery may even be able to tell you. 3. I have the following Schnell's in my Lutz tree. Anna Maria Schnell born 20 Feb 1841 to Georg Adam Schnell (23 Jul 1804-06 Sep 1865) and Maria Margaretha Schnell (03 Apr 1805-07 Feb 1865). Family immigrated to United States on the Franciska (Hamburg to New York, arriving 01 Jun 1852). Anna Maria married Johann Adam Lutz on 02 Feb 1865 at St John Lutheran of Amelith. A son, Johann Matthias, was born to Anna Maria Schnell and Johann Adam Lutz on 30 Apr 1865. The baby died 01 Jul 1865 and is buried at St John of Amelith. Anna Maria died 01 Nov 1865 and is buried at St John. So from Feb to Nov 1865, the baby, the mother and the mother's parents died. The Saginaw County death records do not list a cause of death. The church records do not list cause of death. I have always wondered about this family and why they died so close together. I think this is a mystery I will be unable to find an answer to. Johann Adam Lutz married a 2nd time on 02 Jul 1866 to Marie Margaretha Sybilla Goetz and went on to have 8 more children. Please feel free to contact me offline if you are also interested in this family. Linda From: Saginawsue@aol.com To: MISAGINA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MISAGINA] St. John's cemetery Deb, Thanks for asking. As far as I know there is no one in my husband's ancestral tree by either name. We were searching for SCHNELL ancestors. We photographed 5 headstones. Actually they turned out clearer than I anticipated, given the low light conditions. Carolyn, I would be happy to scan the pictures of the five headstones I have from St. John's Cemetery and send them to you as jpg files if you could use them that way. Let me know. They are: "Baby" Son of G. & M. Schnell; July 26, 1899 Hedwig, Daughter of G. & M. Schnell; May 10, 1897-Feb 4, 1898 Schnell Margaretha 1865-1931 mother George 1858-1932 father Martin Schnell Nov. 20 1891- Dec. 21, 1926 Leota P. 2. Dear Pat: The cemetery that was dug up and moved was the City Cemetery City Cemetery once located south of Lee Street and east of Niagara Street was established by Saginaw Township in the early 1840s before the city of Saginaw was incorporated. The cemetery was abandoned in 1871 with the burials removed to Oakwood Cemetery. Oakwood Cemetery was established in 1868 and covers approximately 100 acres. It is located on the corner of Gratiot and Midland roads. The cemetery is owned by the city of Saginaw and records are held at Forest Lawn. 1. [MISAGINA] ? Crossroads ?
    2. Dear Shelly: I saw your comments about "The Crossroads" Did you know that Brockway Road used to be called Crossroads. In the 1877 plat book of Saginaw County the road we now know of as Brockway was called Crossroads. In the 1896 plat book of Saginaw County the road was then called Brockway. There is a cemetery on Brockway that was established at the time that the road was still called Crossroads. Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery was established in 1864 and is located on approximately 6 acres of Section 21 on Brockway Road near Hawthorne Drive. The cemetery is owned by Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the records are held by the church office. I this it was possible that this cemetery may have been called by the nickname of "The Crossroads Cemetery" Susan Warner Saginaw, Michigan > From: Saja423@aol.com > Date: Sun, 12 Jan 2003 16:51:00 EST > Subject: Re: [MISAGINA] Re: Forest lawn & Brady hill Cemeteries > To: MISAGINA-L@rootsweb.com > > Hello, > > As for Brady Hill.....I have not been able to locate my great great > grandfather Elias Wirsing.
