Does anyone know if there was a nunary? My grandma was suppose to live in one when she was young around 1930. It was Arenac County or Isoco County. Thanks, Penny Bliss
I have just added the Saginaw County 1955 Platt Maps and more obituaries to the website. I have an address of 1610 Carroll St located in the city of Saignaw and I am trying to find out the Ward for this street that was listed in the 1920 Census. Can anyone help me? Thanks Rich Valley City, Ohio
Rich, Carroll street is located in what has been called the first ward. If you have a map of the area it is just north of I-675 expressway which basically divides that area of the city in half. Carroll street runs east and west about 2 or 3 blocks north of it. My husband who lived at 1615 Carroll about that time said that was the First Ward. Nancy --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Always Online (www.always-online.com)]
I finally completed the 350 Bavarian Inn Lodge family histories. These are very detailed histories of the first German families to the area. Along with the histories are the room numbers at the lodge for each family. If you stay at the lodge be sure to request to stay in the room with your families history. I have stayed in a few of these rooms. They have original photographs, documents and other family information within each room. Another yearbook is online for Saginaw. The Reflector 1928 of Central Jr. High. Not like other yearbooks as it contains many works written by the students from writing contests within the school. Individual student photos are not in this year's book and a total list of students is not either. An index to names with links to pages they are on will be worked on, but to come later. Following years that I have and going online later do have names and student photos. If you find one of your family members works from this book you will have something that is unique for your family files. Here is hoping the temps we have been told are coming make it, so we can get out to the cemeteries soon. I have the itch for it. You should look in Saginaw City Directories. They exist for every year after 1900. Michigan took state censuses in 1884 and 1894. I looked at Saginaw City Directories at Sutro Library in San Francisco. They give the address and occupation of each person in the city directory. Saginaw wasn't included in the censuses in 1884 or 1894. Allan Campbell San Jose, Ca
Thanks, I'm asking about census other than the ten year federal ones. I have seen references to state census in the years ending with 5 and had wondered if they would help. I am having great trouble with Saginaw in 1920. The entire house disappears from 1910 and reappears in 1930. I appreciate any ideas.
Have you contacted the library for a check of city directories? They can be very helpful. ----- Original Message ----- From: pime2003 To: MISAGINA-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, March 09, 2003 8:39 PM Subject: [MISAGINA] MISAGINA State Census taken by Michigan in year 5's? State Census includes all the areas within that state The 1870 state census images are available at: http://envoy.libraryofmichigan.org/1870_census/ The 1880 is available at http://www.familysearch.org The other Census for other years are available for a price from Ancestry.com Don't rely on the indexes even with soundex as they often contain mistakes as hand writing can be hard to interpret. If you find something that looks close to what you want investigate it. One great example is the 1930 Census index in which HEIDGER is indexed as HERDGEN so even by soundex you can't find it when looking for the last name. I found the person I was looking for by putting in a first name and year of birth in the Ancestry.com search form. Good luck Nancy researching: Heidger, Braun, Benz, Bowden, Richter, Hammis, Wiechman(Wiechmann), Kagel, Dill, Koehn and many others... >From: "Ann Woodhouse" <a-woodhouse@cox.net> >Reply-To: MISAGINA-L@rootsweb.com >To: MISAGINA-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [MISAGINA] state census/SaginawMI >Date: Sat, 8 Mar 2003 07:25:18 -0800 > >Have you looked at the LDS website? The originator of this message didn't say where she is located, if you are here in Saginaw county, the Hoyt library has them all. Are there any Michigan state census records that show Saginaw? If so where would I find them? Thanks.
Have you looked at the LDS website? They have the 1880 census records for the U.S. online at www.familysearch.org The LDS also has census records at their Family History Libraries. Their website also gives a directory of their libraries. Kind regards, Ann Woodhouse, Los Angeles, Calif. I am looking for any information on 1012 Hoyt Ave. Saginaw MI. It is now under the front door of Central Middle School. It was the home of Cassius Marcus STEWART and Frankie (Franziska)MOORES DOUGHTY STEWART. I have heard it described and thought there must be pictures around. Maybe when it was torn down to start the new school?
Hi Carolyn, Forget my last email -- I scrolled to the bottom of your email and found the website. I took a look and the Bohr family is not among them. Thanks again.
