    2. The Saginaw County Death Index is on microfilm at any LDS Family History Center: #0967172. I believe the Hoyt LIbrary in Saginaw also has a copy of the same. P. Hall

Doughty also had an early motorboat on the river. I know my grandfather Joseph HUBBARD roller skated at Riverside. Has anyone every heard of T.E. DOUGHTY Jewelry and Books in East Saginaw? The memories have been wonderful at bringing history to life. Thank you. Karen

    2. I guess the reason I asked about Frankie Allore is because you also mentioned Crow Island and it seems to me that Frankie lived there as a kid. Margaret

    3. That was Ramond's! We had many a hot roast beef or hot turkey sandwich dinner there after a night of dancing at the Old Apple Orchard. I'm surprised I haven't seen more memories of the old Apple Orcherd. It was an institution for years. You could always count on the Orchard for some good dance music. My mom met my step-dad there and they spent MANY good years together and many good years at the Orchard. As did their daughter!

    3. I remember a Carol or Carolyn ALLORE. The late 1950's, she had a buckskin mare she called Honda d'Oro that she kept at a stable at the corner of Center and McCarty Roads. We were AHHS teens at the time. They are putting in a subdivision now where that stable was. More's the pity. The best farm land in the state of Michigan turning into malls, paved parking lots and subdivisions of ugly, pretentious houses. At least the old Golfside had a lot of large attractive homes, keyword being attractive - and tasteful. Every Christmas we had to make the slow meandering drive thru Golfside to see the Christmas lighting on the houses there.

    1. [MISAGINA] Memories: Researching PERKINS, NY>Hemlock, MI: MI: FOVELLE
    2. Fovelle Hill at Dice and Hemlock was called that because of Billy FOVELLE and Hattie (Harriet) PERKINS Fovelle had the acreage on the Southwest corner. Billy was a lumberman. He came to Saginaw, MI from St. Polyscarp, Quebec, Can. at 14 years old. In 1866. He began farming in 1893 when my grandmother, Grace Angelic FOVELLE Gilson was 6 years old. That was the first time she met her father. He was at the Lumber Camps working. Her mother would go there to visit him but Grandma wasn't allowed because she was a child. Nathaniel PERKINS was Hattie's father. He and Martha DORCHESTER and their children, Bertha, George Washington, Alfred, Jackson, Caroline, Catherine, Emma, Harriet (Hattie) came to Midland, MI in 1865 then to Hemlock, MI in 1866. We are looking for ancestors of Nathaniel PERKINS. His parents and siblings. Does anyone have any info on this family? Kind regards, Jan Johnson

    2. It depends on how far from the corner. One block south was Ramonds drive in, down by the transmission plant on the corner was Sullivan's.
