For: lBauknecht Hi llse: I lost your correct address and I am trying to find you. On your e-mail to me it shows: IBauknecht. I sent this to you there but they say you are not a known member. I decided to send it to the MISagina as you are from Michigan and I was from Saginaw so chances are you are on that list as I am. Please contact me and let me know your correct e-mail address. I have been searching the archives of our two papers, Miami Herald and the Sun Sentinel and even their archives do not have the date we are looking for. I went to the Broward College Library but their archives do not go back that far either but they think that the Fort Lauderdale Library will have 1988 Don will take me to the Library in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday Afternoon if all goes well. I just wanted to keep you posted on the progress. Liz, Hollywood, FL
Jim Yes, it has "Jacob Plate Saginaw 1914" written on the back and the picture of him in a Ducks baseball uniform. Jacob and his descendents are descended from the second wife of Harm Plate and my mother and her ancestors are descended from Harm's first wife. There are relatives we met in the ancestral village, Elm, a mile or so ne of Bremervorde still residing there. Names in the family are: Plate, Seba, Buck, Peters, Otten, Muller, Sethman Plate & Sethman's children married Tomfohr (from Hagenah), Tiedeman (from Altstedt), Wulburn (from Oerel) all the villages are around Bremervorde Ken
Ken, et al, Just heard from Paul Neumeyer at the Saginaw News. He said the Ducks played in Saginaw in 1914 and 1915. Nothing else right now. Does the picture you have have names on it, Ken ? Jim Glick <[email protected]> Researching - Glick/Glück, Kelly, Roth, Leisle, Meyer, Grossnickle, Hume, and Donovan
I tried to get into the MI site mentioned below and received a message "this > page cannot be displayed." Just a note - I've had a heck of a time with this site too - I've found success is best midday Michigan time, on a work day - who knows why. This has most likely been on the list. But is a great site for Saginaw research : http://www.tricitynet.com/pls/obit.nsf
Jim, I remember an Eddie Becker who taught tap dancing. He went to Arthur Hill same years as I. I believe he did have a dance studio later. I took tap lessons from him while still in school. 1937-39 era. Doris You wrote: Does anyone on the list remember this dance studio. It was on Genesee, next to the restaurant at Bond. I think I remember Ms. Houlihan but not as a math teacher. Did she teach sewing as well? I had Mrs. Clarke as a math teacher. Diane

My Carters in this area I haven't researched much. I know that Elmira Carter (Civil War era) was very proud of the Revolutionary era Sam Carter's in her tree. I took her back, but I haven't taken her forward to see what the family did in Saginaw. I just heard that her father, David Carter, started the shipping line in the area - and when IJ&P was mentioned it made me curious. I'm lucky I'm not a cat!! How well I remember Mrs NEWBURG, gym and "those" suits! Did anyone else have Mrs HOOLIHAN or was it Ms HOLLIHAN, for math? Remember the wonderful stories she told of the "Great Fire: and her experience living thru it? Does anyone remember Ms JACOBS at John Moore Elementary and her reading to us of MYSTERY OF THE GULLS set on Mackinaw Island? Mr HITZMAN at Holy Cross Lutheran, a wonderful man and teacher; the delicious AND NUTRITIOUS, hot meals at Holy Cross? Mr Schreifer, the principal. He and I didn't see eye to eye regarding corporal punishment. Wicked grin. I went back to John Moore despite no hot lunches.

Does anyone remember a plumbing store on Genesee that had a faucet with water drops that was on the outside of the building that when lite made it look like the water was dripping? I'm not sure but I think my dad's uncle Charles Miller may have owned the store at one time. Seeing the store only once when I was young I don't remember exactly where it was. Can anyone tell me if it was owned by Charles, where it was and if the building is still there so I can get some pictures? Thanks, Duane Miller Merrill, MI [email protected]

I don't think so. I will page through it though. Perhaps in Frankie and the Baron. That was all on record. Stuart found the info on Frankie Howe at the Hoyt Library in Saginaw. I don't have that book here. It's quite an interesting story of the time in history and the attitudes of the people in Saginaw. Jan
