    3. My father-in-law is trying to remember the name and religion of a church - which may or may not still be there. It was a "little white church" on the corner of Union and N. Charles streets in Saginaw. He attended when he was a boy in the mid to late 1930's. Can anyone help? Thanks, Janet in AZ

    1. [MISAGINA] Saginaw Gear 1919

    3. I am searching for anyone who might know whether Saginaw Gear's payroll records might be archived somewhere. My dad was a gunsmith prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. He gave Saginaw, MI as his "bona fide" place of residence when he enlisted in Detroit. While surfing the net, I found that Saginaw Gear produced part for Browning machine guns during WW1. The old "gun plant" was located on Holmes Street. His military records were among those that burned in 1973 in St. Louis. Since he was orphaned at age 5 in Tx. or NM, and the people who took him in have long since died, I have no way to find out about his youth. He did say that he boarded with a Bohemian family. One of the sons, who was born prematurely and was so tiny his head fit into a teacup, grew to be a big, strong man. That young fellow worked in some sort of a foundry where he got a small cut which resulted in lock-jaw, and he died within a week. I f any of this sounds familiar to you, please email me with some shred of hope. Thank you, Maria

    1. Re: [MISAGINA] Fosters, Michigan
    2. Patricia what a surprise. in looking at the names you found in the title search, one of my cousins appeared: Julia Lockwood. She was born Julia Andre, daughter of Hon. Peter C. Andre and Clarissa Ann Stark. They married in Saginaw in 1846. Peter Andre seems to have been a rather prominent and wealthy business person, owning considerable real estate in the Saginaw area. Julia married George Sevy Lockwood, a merchant who operated a crockery shop on Cpurt St. in his father-in-law's building. George later help P.C. Andre develope property on what is now Adams Blvd. I would be interested in reviewing your document if there is some way to acheive that. Thanks for making my day, Tim Stark Naples, FL

    1. [MISAGINA] Fosters, Michigan
    2. I recently obtained from the Saginaw Abstract & Title Co. a title search of my ancestors property in Fosters, section 9, Taymouth Township. I thought I would share some of the names that I have on this record, in case someone on this list recognizes a family surname. If so, I will share the info with you. On December 12, 1888, my Great-grandfather, Michael Reskie, purchased 20 acres, from Darwin & Adeline Pettibone of Bridgeport. The property was sold in 1922 to Clyde & Bertha Douglas. The property was sold in 1928 to Joseph Leach, and it remained within the Leach family until 1948, and the Gajewski family became the tenants and present owners. The following names are also on the 1888, 1922, Saginaw Co. title record pages: Gideon Horning; Evaline Brown; E. j Ring; Wm. Smith; Thomas Creswell; Louisa Scriver; Julia Farley; Charles Trylell; Doris Spindler; Leonard Burk; also, for 1929 transactions: John Kearney; Emma Paxson; Vincent Cherry; 1929, Julia Lockwood; James Boland; Alberrt Otto; C. St. John. I hope this will be of interest for someone on this list Patricia

    3. Hi listers, about two years ago, I found a web site for St. John's Lutheran Church of Saginaw, 2nd & Federal, used to be LCA, now is ELCA. Anyway, their web page had the vital records of its members. I tried to access it tonight, and got an error. Does anyone have St. John's present web site address? A lot of my ancestors are in there and I sure would like to be able to get that information. Thanks in advance!! Blessings....Sharon -- researching: Armstrong, Braatz, Brandt, Cramer, Davis, Hensler, Knippel, McCray, Palmer, Shields, Thomason & Yahn

    3. Have you tried http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm and then typing in Saginaw. It will bring up the St John's files through the archives. Hope this is what you are looking for.
