Hi How wonderful for you to get a Family Bible full of family information. I was given the family Bible from 1880 and no one had written a single name in it. THe Bible was just like new. Guess, they didn't read the Bible too often. <grin> I'm sure glad you got your book and the info. Good luck on your search. Liz, Hollywood, FL
Hi Yes, I agree you should all go back and take as many photo's of whaat you remember. I did that about 10 years ago. Now my church has been torn down and my school, drug store, funeral homes etc. As we get older our memories will be all we have to remember the city by. Go take as many photo's now as you can. Liz, Hollywood, FL
Karen, Regarding the Freeland area: My husband's Great-uncle, John Doran, was the Freeland Hotel clerk who died from the fire at the Freeland Hotel, March 1914. According to the Saginaw Daily News, he was making the rounds on the grounds when a lighted lantern exploded. Where was the Freeland Hotel? Patricia
HI Lee, It is so sad to find out that most of the great and beautiful places that I remember so fondly about Saginaw are being torn down for drug stores and parking lots. I wonder if there is anything that we (people on this list) can do to record these memories so that these historical places will not be forgotten. Patricia
All are still there and more now. Joyce
