DON'T HAVE INFO ON THESE NAMES BUT MY PARENTS LIVED ON 1513 CARROLL ST. FROM MY YOUNGER DAYS ........ [I'LL BE 60 TOMORROW] I REMEMBER 2 STORY HOMES WAS A NICE NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE 40'S.
Both my grandfather Charles Hlozek born in 1892 and my grandmother Caroline Bosak born in 1884 came from Austria and lived in Saginaw, Michigan. My grandmothers mother maiden name was Jennie Gabsdyl. My father Charles was born on March 21, 1916 in Saginaw. They lived at 1610 Carroll Street. My grandmother and father moved to Cleveland, Ohio around 1922. My grandparents were divorced and my grandmother remarried to Martin Koneval. Is there anyone who can give any information about the Hlozek or Bosak of Saginaw? Can anyone tell me what is located at 1610 Carroll Street? Thank You Rich Koneval
Dora, I'm not the one you asked, but I have many ancestors from the Frankentrost, Reece, Frankenmuth, and Saginaw areas: LANGE, WISSMUELLER, KUCK, MUELLER, SCHAITBERGER, KLENKE, WESERMAN, KIRCHNER, BUB, BILLMAN, SCHOENHOFF. In the US from 1847 and back to 1600 in Germany and Austria before 1847. There is not a city, but a Blumfield Township in Saginaw County. It is directly east of Buena Vista Twp and north of Frankenmuth Twp. east of Saginaw. It was settled primarily by German immigrants. It contains the settlements of Frankentrost and Blumfield Corners, and the village of Reese. Mary Sue
You are probably referring to the township of Blumfield which includes the small village of Frankentrost. It is just a few miles south of Saginaw and near it's more well known sister city of Frankenmuth. Both Frankenmuth and Frankentrost are made up largely of persons of German ancestry. Blumfield township, no town by that name.
There is a Blumfield Township in Saginaw County. It is just before you get to Reese. Blumfield Township Cemetery is on the corner of M-15 and M-83. A lot of the pioneers from Blumfield Township are buried there. There are also many buried at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery on Block Road between Wadsworth and M-15. What name are you researching. A lot of my ancestors lived in Blumfield Township. Dora

COUNCIL OF IRISH GENEALOGICAL ORGANISATIONS On Tuesday, 1 May, CIGO was invited to a press launch in Dublin. The Ministers for Health & Children and Social, Community & Family Affairs, Micheál Martin TD and Dermot Ahern TD, were launching the consultative stage of the 'GRO PROJECT' in the form of a document entitled Bringing Civil Registration into the 21st Century - A Consultation Document on the Modernisation of the Civil Registration Service. This document can be found on the web at: http://www.groireland.ie/images/consultation.pdf The consultation exercise is open to all, but unfortunately is quite short, it ends on the 31 May. CIGO encourages all organisations and individuals involved in Irish genealogical research to have their say. E-mail submissions may be sent to [email protected] , however CIGO suggests that lengthy and/or detailed submissions should be made in writing and sent to: Civil Registration Modernisation Programme Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs Goldsmith House Pearse Street Dublin 2 Republic of Ireland Appendix 6 of Bringing Civil Registration... lists a number of questions designed to assist those who wish to submit their views. Of particular interest is the section headed 'Public Access to Registration Records'. This section needs to be addressed thoroughly or genealogists may find that the new legislation (which is to be enacted later in the year) will, for the first time since 1845, severely restrict their access to certain sections of the Public Record ! Don't forget that this is also your opportunity to let the two Departments know that it is high time that permission was given by the Registrar General to allow genealogical groups to purchase copies of the Irish civil registration films held by the LDS church. Given the number of times over the years that the problem of the Irish General Register Office has raised its ugly head, some readers might 'think why bother ?'. DON'T ! This is the opportunity that we have all waited so long for. The next few months are crucial. We must all work hard to make sure that the new legislation proposed by the Irish Government fairly reflects the interests of Irish genealogists - both in Ireland and overseas. Kind regards, Steven Smyrl Executive Liaison Officer ************************************************************* It's very important that those of you who do have an interest in Irish genealogy to take the time to read this document and pass your comments on to those who Stephen lists here.

I saw your name list for Saginaw. I too would like to know the years covered. I do have Smith in my family, actually was German Schmidt we are told. I'm also curious about the Leaman name. There is probably no connection, but my maiden name and family name is LEA. My great grandfather was John Lea, born in Germany in 1848. He came to the US with 3 brothers but we don't know their names. He ended up in Saginaw, ca. 1860's. I cannot find him on the 1860 or 1870 census, at least not under LEA, but he is on the 1880 census. He married Mary Louise Schneider in 1873 in Saginaw. Does your family have a long lost brother that would fit my John? Probably not, but thought I would check. My Smith/Schmidt family is John, b. abt 1819 in Germany. Our information indicates he came to NY about 1852. He m. Mary Reidel/Reidle bef. 1843. I have 10 children listed. One daughter, Mary m. John Bluem abt. 1859. They came to Saginaw abt.1862 and parents appear to have also moved to Saginaw at some point. John and Mary Bluem's daughter Mary was my great grandmother, whom I remember. Thank you for responding. A. J. Clark
