I think the Indiantown you're looking for is in Saginaw County and is east off M46.
I'm not certain, but I believe she meant Indiantown - the 'location' between Saginaw and Bay City where WNEM has their station transmitter. Tim Naples, FL
Hi, Do you know what county your looking in? Walter Romig's Michigan Place Names lists four Indian Towns: Antrim County, Calhoun Co, Mason Co, and Menominee co. If you're not sure I can send you the entry for all four. Pat Levy Walnut Creek CA
Where can I find info on INDIAN TOWN. Thanks in advance. Janet

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I found this on another list. This was in Tues, 8 May, Springfield MO News Leader, p. 5B: Discovery of cemetery halts roadwork--Associated Press-Kansas City-- Construction of a new highway in south Kansas City has been halted by the discovery of a small cemetery dating back to the Civil War era. State officials are anxious to find any descendants of the Holloway family who are buried in the cemetery. If the heirs can't be found, the state will have to get court permission to move the nine graves in the plot, in order to finish a new Missouri 150. Construction workers recently unearthed a marble headstone, dating from 1858, while moving a large section of water pipe. Archaeologists later found another headstone and evidence of seven other graves. The site has not been disturbed further. Please pass this on to other lists. ______________________________
Thanks. This list is great. Wonderful help on Genealogy and great times remembering way back when. I get back to Saginaw every few years to see family but never get to stay long enough. Liz, Hollywood, FL
I am searching for a 1854 census for Peaine Township, Beaver Island, MI My gt gt grandfather was living there. FINCH, Nathaniel Listed as male over 21 living in Peaine Township, north part of Beaver Island 1854 May 176 Census of Emmet County, Mich. Could someone direct me to this census? Nathaniel Finch died in Swan Creek , Saginaw County, in 1870. Thank you, Ruth Wickham [email protected]
Diane & Elizabeth, I left Saginaw in 1980 and the restaurant had already changed ownership. The Bringers (his name may be Bill or William) were parishoners at St. Andrews Catholic Church. They had a son, Bill, who attended high school at St. Andrews prior to the school's closing in '68. Tim Naples
Before the changeover it was the Anderson Steakhouse.
Diane: At one time the restaurant that was located where BRINGER INN now is was called ANDERSON'S. I cannot remember when the change happened, but perhaps Hoyt Library in Saginaw would have that info. Pat, I can check to see if the record is there, but if you plan to get a copy anyway, I would suggest that you simply notify the Register of Deeds yourself and they will send it to you. The Register's office does not allow photocopies. If you wish to have a certified copy, send a check or money order for $5 to County Clerk's Office, (make the check out to Saginaw County Clerk), 111 S. Michigan, Saginaw, MI 48602 and give them the same information which you have just given to me. They will send it to you by reply mail. You might wish to send them a business sized SASE with your request. Good luck to you and happy hunting in MN. My husband's family came from MN and still lives there in Virginia or Eveleth, MN. Contact me if you have anyone else to check out here in the Saginaw Co. area. Diane

Dear Star, I'm sorry. When I read your name it reminded me of Boardwell. Good luck in your search. Humbly mistaken, Jan
Dear Diane, I have thought about contacting you but have put it off as I have made plans to drive to Saginaw for the day and go to the courthouse...all of which fell through. I would be delighted to get my hands on the following death record that I found on a LDS film of Saginaw County Deaths: GONYEA, PETER V., BOOK 4, P 93. My suspicions are that this is my great-great-grandfather, who seemed to float between Saginaw and Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin regularly. Is this enough information to find it? This would be great because I am two weeks away from moving out of the state to my home in Minneapolis, MN, and know I won't have time to get to Saginaw. I have a bunch of Gonyea kin in Minnesota that will be as delighted as I will be if this is our guy. Thank you so much for your offer. Since I would like a copy regardless if he is kin, let me know where and how much to send you. Sincerely, Pat Hall
Pat, Have you found a volunteer to look for your obit, yet? If not, then contact me at [email protected] and I will look for you. Diane
Am looking for information on my great grandmother, Anna Hearn/Hern LaFever. Born in Germany and came to Saginaw as a youngster, late 1890's/early 1900's. Her family owned some type of store with their last name in the name. She married my great grandfather Alex (Nelson Alexander) LaFever before 1919 and died in 1944. Family rumor has great wealth that was eventually donated to Delta College in an uncle's name. Any information on family or business would be greatly appreciated kim brennan traverse city, mi also, looking for LaFever/Bashford/Woods/Rutz/Jekel
Hi, Could someone look up a obit for Michael L. Downey -- died Dec. 30, 1890, age 38, Saginaw MI. Buried from St. Mary's Cathederal Jan. 3, 1891. Husband of Nora. I have been unable to locate the cemetery where he is buried. Hoping obit might help and explain how he died so young leaving a wife and four young daughters. I would be willing to exchange for lookups in the Saginaw City directories, 1883-1934. Thanks for any help. Pat Levy Walnut Creek CA
Hi, I'm new to the Saginaw List. I'm looking for the descendents of Ann Carey O'Connor, daughter of Peter Carey and Ann (Nancy) Haley Carey. She married Redmond O'Connor - no date. Ann's sisters were born in Canada and I believe she was too, but don't know. Peter and Ann immigrated from Ireland to Canada. Bridget immigrated to Michigan in 1870, her sisters, Catherine - 1865, Nora - 1874, Sarah - abt 1883, Edward - abt 1883, Thomas - abt 1887. Ann Haley Carey immigrated to MI in 1882,I believe after Peter died. As she is listed in the 1883 Saginaw city directory as "Ann (widow of Peter)" I know that she was living in Hemlock in 1906 when her mother died in Saginaw and that she was still living in Hemlock when her sister, Bridget Carey Moran, my gr grandmother, died in 1922. If anyone knows this family or is researching, please contact me. Thanks. Pat Levy walnut Creek CA SURNAMES: BOYLE, CAREY, FITZMORRIS, HALEY, HARTFORD, HITZMAN, MCGOWAN, MORAN, O'CONNOR, SUITER
