1. Re: [MISAGINA] County Clerk
2. Sue, Send your info to me and I will check it out at the County Clerk's office for you next week. I would not suggest sending anything to the state. I can handwrite the info on the record. Or you can send a request to the Saginaw County Clerk's Office, 111 S. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. They do not have an e-mail address. Diane

3. Would SKS check the Saginaw city directory prior to 1886 for my 2gr grandmother Anna Kueper's family. According to her 1913 Saginaw newspaper obituary she moved to Saginaw with her parents in 1877, however I can not find the Kueper name in the 1890 city directory at Ancestry.com. And the closest I can come to an Anna Kueper born 3 Apr 1858 in Germany on the 1880 census is KLIPPEL, Anna Dau <1861> Bir: GERM Cen: MI Saginaw Co. Saginaw City. TIA Sue D. 1. [MISAGINA] Simmons school
2. Among the photographs we inherited from g-grandpa and grandma, is a school picture on a postcard. A boy in the front row is holding a slate that says " Simmons school, April 20(?), 1910" The family lived in Brant twp and St. Charles. My father-in-law remembers two Simmons families that lived within a few miles radious of their home. The Saginaw public Library has no knowledge of a Simmons school, but there was an unnamed school in the right area. Does anyone have any knowledge about Simmons school, and does anyone know where I might find a list of students, and the teacher, for that year? I will gladly share a copy of this picture. - Marilyn Current of Whitehall, Muskegon Co.

2. Gail, I'm not sure if anyone has replied to you about 439 Howard St. I finally was able to go by there yesterday. There is no 439 Howard. The street stops in the 700 block. Maybe years ago it was numbered different. I checked the corner of McCoskry and Howard. There is still a store on the corner. It is now the 1100 block. I was told that it is called the Howard Street Market but about 1-2 months ago it burned and is no longer open. I'm not sure if it will reopen. It is in a very rundown area of Saginaw. I hope that this is of some help to you. Karen

3. Hello Listers, I may have asked this before, but does anyone out there have access to the 1910 Saginaw County, St. Charles Village/Township census? I'm looking for William and Savilla McBeth. Particularly Savilla. I'm trying to determine her date of death. She would be age 73. She could be living with a son or daughter with the last name Manchester. Any help appreciated. 2. I must have deleted the message giving the address or general location of the Bohemian Hall. Would some kind soul please posst that address again? It's 1722 Wadsworth and was called Czechoslovak Society of America Lodge 214 in 1944 when they applied for a liquor renewal - I'm trying to find out more about it - at one very early point it was owned by my ancestor Joesph Sklapsky and a partner that killed himself (name escapes me) - allegedly at one time a great many family photos etc graced the place. Any and all recollections are being collected. Liz Montgomery The Saginaw Symons

2. The 400 block of N Franklin no longer exists as a residential area. The I-675 highway which bypasses the downtown area of Saginaw has taken its place. That would have been built the late 60's or early 70's. Karen

3. Could someone please help determine if one of the Kinney lots described below is the lot at 413 Franklin street? When my gg grandmother died she and her family were residing at 413 North Franklin street. This was in Dec. 1894. I am not sure if this was in Saginaw or on the outskirts, but her obituary appeared in the Saginaw Evening News. Can anyone help identify the area and possibly tell me what kind of an area it is today. My gg grandfather Peter W. KINNEY was a mill wright and I'm curious as to whether this may have been near a mill.......or what. He appears to have about $6000.00 of land value when he appears on the 1870 census and I believe that one of the descriptions below that were sent to me from the History of Saginaw Co. Michigan, Chas. C. Chapman & Co. Chicago, 1881 should be him. He almost always used the intials P.W. Kinney or the name Peter W. Kinney so I need the help of someone familiar with the area to sort this out. _______________________________________________________________ P.59-C Saginaw City P. Kinney one lot on Franklin St., near Fitzhugh St. on south. Just east of Saginaw River, with businesses and a block of lots between. P. 58 P.W. Kinney's lots are west of the Saginaw River in the Nothern part of Saginaw. It says section C, but that may be just for the map. I haven't had to check a Saginaw City map before. **P.W. owns 4 lots bordering Pine St on west (runs N-S.) and Oak St. (on the South, and Zilwaukie Road on the East. The lots are together, and to the East of the land is a steam planing mill, owned by W.H. Edwards & Co. That business is on a waterway connected to the Saginaw River. No neigbors are listed on the other lots by P.W. Thanks for any help you can give me on this. Regards, Bonnie Menzer Barnes Perth, Western Australia

3. I just checked Tuscola's Genweb page. It says that Tuscola County was formed in 1850. Before that it was part of Saginaw Co. Perhaps your ancestors bought their land earlier.
