    1. [MISAGINA] Saginaw Pioneer Memorials
    2. Patricia Hamp
    3. A new Memorials (obits of a sort) dataset has been added to Michigan Family History Network. Being raised in Saginaw it was the county I chose to do first from the books I have. The Pioneer Memorials for Saginaw from the 1881, 1884, 1885 and 1891 Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collection have been put online. http://www.mifamilyhistory.org/memorials/default.asp It is best to do a search through these as many contain names of siblings, daughters and sons, business partners, and parents. Thanks Patricia Wazny-Hamp --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). The link you specified is the last known link for the Saginaw obit database. I tried to access it tonight via the Public Libraries of Saginaw home page -- clicked on "Genealogy/History" and then "Obit Database," but it still didn't work. Sent an e-mail to them to find out what's up. Mary Richardson

    1. Re: [MISAGINA] FTM files
    2. Thanks to every one who offered suggestions on how to transfer my FTM files from a desktop to a laptop. When I was getting conflicting advice from different salespeople on how to do this, I knew that some of you on this list would be able to give me the correct way to do this procedure. I was told I needed to buy a software program to move files from one PC to another, to one person who said I could buy an electrical device that would let my PC talk to another PC and transfer the files. Needless to say, I was getting more confused and discouraged with trying to buy a laptop. So, now all I have to do is decide which brand and model to buy and hope that they offer reliable technical support. Thanks again for all of your suggestions. When I do purchase one I will get in touch with those of you who offered to help me with the transfer of files. By the way, what does the message to AOL security group re: FTM files and a virus have to do with my request for info? Just wondering what does this mean? Thanks again for your help. Patricia

    3. I have tried exporting a GEDCOM file and it does not transfer any photos in your albums. SCIGSC@aol.com wrote:Dear Patricia: When you install FTM to your new laptop, transferring your gen info is a very simple process. It involves exporting a GEDCOMFILE onto a floppy disc and then importing it in the new computer. I don't really see any problems with this. 3. I have a laptop and did this. I loaded the software onto my desktop. I then copied the FTW family file and the FTW backup file to my laptop. When I opened Family Tree maker I clicked on "file" and then "restore from backup". If you have any problems let me know.
