I hope someone on this list can help me out. I'm trying to locate the country my grandfather originated from. We have told it was Holland, but I am unable to find any surname of ETTERBEEK there. When I do a search I always get ETTERBEEK, Belgium. Here is what I do know. John Etterbeek born in Zeeland or Holland, Mich. Sept. 15, 1874 died Feb. 1963 married Grace Hirdes from Holland children -Wallace Hemina Gladys Ruth - my mother In the early 1920s they moved to California . On the web I recently found an Obit from the Holland Sentinel Index listing 1912-1976. Mrs. John Etterbeek 1/7/60. I'm sure this is my grandmother I am really stumped as to where to look for them.
