Posted on: Ottawa Co., Michigan Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mi/Ottawa/713 Surname: De Ridder, Vander West, Tibbe, Timmer ------------------------- I am researching members of my Mother's family. DE RIDDER- My Great Great Grandparents were DERK (actually DIRK) DE RIDDER and FRANCES TEN BLEYKER (actually FRANCIJNTJE DEN BLEIJKER). They emigrated from Texel in 1866, with their 4 children in 1866. They landed in New York and went to Michigan. The children's names were: HERBERT (actually HUIP)( my G Grandfather )..married Ruth Tibbe, BAALTJE ( have no idea what english translation would be), HUIBERTJE (again..english translation?) and a brother MAARTEN. My G Grandfather was 10 years old when they arrived in this country and died June 5, 1929 in Holland, Michigan. He was 72 years old. I know that he had a farm in or around Holland for many years. I know that he lived in Holland for about 44 years before his death.I know that he married my G Grandmother on March 1, 1885 in Graafschap, Michigan by A. Zwemen. The witnesses to the marriage were A.G. Nusken? and J.G.Tibbe. At the time of his death in 1929 he still had 2 sisters living. The only names I have are the married names of HALLAM( or HALLIM or HALLUM ) of Kalamazoo and BOERSMA of Florida. I suppose his brother MAARTEN had already passed on. My questions are these....Does anyone know where and when Derk ( Dirk ) De Ridder died and where he is buried? The same question for Frances De Ridder. Does anyone know where and when Maarten DE Ridder died and is buried, or did he leave the area? Regarding the 2 sisters..BAALTJE and HUIBERTJE..one married Hallam and the other a BOERSMA..does anyone know who married who and again any info about their families. And finally, does anyone know where the DeRidder farm was located and is it still standing or has it gone by way of the housing developments. I only know that it was up or down the road from the Vander West farm. Also, where was this family located before moving to Holland? Thank you, Sharon Preising
