Age 71 Of Spring Lake, MI Passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003, at a hospital in Muskegon, MI. He was born January 27, 1932 to Lloyd and Emma (Bower) Strome in Dowagiac, MI, and married Dolores A. Tokarsaki June 23, 1956 in Dowagiac. Mr. Strome was a graduate of Western Michigan University, and served in the US Navy during the Korean War, having served aboard aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea 3-1/2 years. He moved to the Tri-Cities area in 1976 and worked for Prudential, where he had been an agent, sales manager, training consultant and district manager, and retired in 1990. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and former Rotarian, and during his career achieved "CLU"– Chartered Life Underwriters. His interests included hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; daughters, Diane Strome of Grand Rapids, Karen (Stephen) Teays of Spring Lake; son, William L. Strome of Kalamazoo; 3 grandsons, Kevin, Eric and Brendan; 2 sisters, Ardith Wiemuth of Dowagiac, Suzanne (Donald! ) Joiner of Collinsville, Mississippi; brother, Raymond (Donna) Strome of Cassopolis; sister-in-law, Roxanne Strome; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. His brothers, Harlin and Terry, preceded him in death. A Memorial Service for Mr. Strome will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Kenneth Nash and Mr. Bruce Nitz officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
