She was listed as a farm servant girl. She arrived in New York from the port in London, Engalnd on the "S.S. Cella (or Stella) of Bremen" on 23 May 1868 enroute to Chicago. Her religion was listed as "Reformed". She was coming from Loppersum, Groningen. And her husband, Jan Willem van der Meij was married in the Netherlands to Johanna Groenouwe and had daughters Dedrica and Hermina with her before he went to America in 1871. And it appears that Jan Willem van der Meij married again after Anna died. He's listed in the 1900 census as being married to a "Margje". He was living next to his daughter Dedrica (Rika) who was married to Roelof (Ralph) Brinks. Hermina (or, Harmina) married Derk Geerts Boven and had a son, Thomas Boven who was married to Grace Dijkhuis (Grace Dykhouse) who is in my family tree. John van der Meij is buried close to Anna Nederhoed: VanDerMey, John; Vogel Center; 4-40-B NA; 2-13-07 66 Name of Deceased: Mey, John Vander Date of Death: 13 February 1907 Male/Female: male Marital Status: widow Age at Death: 66 Place of Death: Ventura, California? Vogel Center? Cause of Death: cancer Birthplace: Netherlands Name of Parents: Derk & Hermina (I think that this is his daughter and son-in-law, Derk Geerts Boven and Hermina, they probably owned the grave) Residence of Parents: Vogel Center, MI ?
