    1. [Ottawa Co., Michigan Genealogy] re: genealogical research
    2. Willem Breemhaar
    3. Hello I am a Dutch member of the list Who can do some genealogical research for me in Holland, Ottawa County? I can do some genealogical research in the State Archives of Groningen, The Netherlands, as compensation. I am looking for Wendel (Johannes) de Neu(i) and Jacob (Geerts) Nagel. Wendel (Johannes) de Neu(i), born Ditzumerverlaat (Germany), 29 June 1820, christened Ditzum, 2 July 1820, daughter of Johannes Derks de Neui and Reentje Janssen Bruns. I am descendent of a brother of Johannes Derks de Neui. Wendel married Ditzum (Germany), 30 April 1843 Jacob Geerds Nagel, born 1 April 1819, christened Landschaftspolder (Germany), . 4 April 1819, after his marriage blacksmith in Oostwold (The Netherlands), son of Geert Jakobs Nagel and Epke Rijkwarts Havinga. Children out this marriage: 1 Johannes Nagel, born Oostwold, 3 January 1844; 2 Geert Jakobs Nagel, born Oostwold, 30 mei 1845. They emigrated circa 1847 to the Michigan, USA Wendel and Jacob were 1850 living in Holland, Ottowa County, Michigan. . See Brian & Terri Rene (DaVar) Howard, 1850 Federal Census Holland Township Ottawa County Michigan (ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mi/ottawa/holland/census/c52202.txt): "50 Nagel Jacob 31 m blacksmith 140 Pillar Wendel 32 f wife de Neu" Jacob had also 140 acres land. That is the only thing I know about their period of living in the States. Their sons Johannes ande Geert are not mentioned in the census. They died maybe before. I have no experience with researching American land records for genealogical purposes. I have red only some time ago Linda Haas Davenport, Land Records: History of and How to Use Them (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~haas/learningcenter/landinfo.html). Maybe it is possible by researching land records to get (more) information about Wendel and Jacob and their descendents. Maybe there are also other succesfull ways of researching. Who can help me? I would appreciate it very much! Willem
