Posted on: Ottawa Co., Michigan Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mi/Ottawa/855 Surname: DEREMO ------------------------- I did a look-up several months ago from someone researching the DEREMO surname in Ottawa County. I think I checked census index listings for him. I will forward your recent messages to him to see if this connects to him. I have NO connection to this family - I'm just an initial go between. In the meantime... This was his initial query & follow-up msg.: > Earl F. Deremo was born in Dekalb, St Lawrence Co., NY, in 1817. He married > Permelia Curtis who was also from NY, and was also born in 1817. I believed > he left NY prior to 1850 as he is not listed on the 1850 census for Dekalb, > and he and Permelia are listed on the MI census for 1870. However, I am not > a 100% sure about this as I have conflicting data on his son John Quincy > Deremo. The Mormon records and family notes indicate that John was born in > Joliet, NY, in 1855 or 1856, but another resource shows that he was born in > Crockery Twp., Ottawa Co., in 1858. > > Earl died in 1893 and Permelia in 1890. > > Earl's parents were Joseph Deremo and Rebecca Riggs, both from CT. Joseph > was born about 1770 and Rebecca about 1780. Other children were Sarah, > George, and Orsemas. I have a fair amount of additional info on Earl's, > Orsemas's, and George's descendants if you would be interested. > > My line is Joseph - Earl - John Quincy - Orin - Willis. > Are you related to Earl, and if so how? > Ed > HE THEN ADDED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.......... Shelly: Thank you vey much for the offer to help. I would like to know more about Joseph Deremo who was born about 1770 in CT., and then moved to Dekalb, St Lawrence Co., NY. I would like to know who his parents were, where the family immigrated from, etc. There may be some connection to a Joseph Deremore who was born in Wallingford, New Haven, CT. His wife's name was Sarah Beach, and her mother's maiden name was Curtiss. Joseph Deremo's daughter was named Sarah, and one of his son's son had a middle name of Curtis. Two of Joseph's sons also married Curtis girls. May not mean anything, but then again who knows. Thanks again for your offer to help. Ed
