The house was built by Amanda's brother when they homesteaded sometime in the very early 1900's. Apparently, the family brought some of Amanda's early drawnings with them. When cleaning the garage I found several early pieces of her work (1885,1982, 1875,etc). I don't know alot about Amanda and her work but am very interested in knowing more about her.

She was listed as a farm servant girl. She arrived in New York from the port in London, Engalnd on the "S.S. Cella (or Stella) of Bremen" on 23 May 1868 enroute to Chicago. Her religion was listed as "Reformed". She was coming from Loppersum, Groningen. Here is the marriage info about her parents: Archive location: Groninger Archieven General Municipality: Eenrum Type of record: Huwelijksakte (marriage record) Record number: 11 Registration date: 18-07-1834 (18 July 1834) Bridegroom: Jelte Nederhoed Place of birth: Appingedam Bride: Petronella Johannes Smit Place of birth: Appingedam Father bridegroom: Albert Jeltes Nederhoed Mother bridegroom: Anna Boerema Father bride: Johannes Frederik Smit Mother bride: Elizabeth Egberts Mos Additional information: bruidegom 39 jaar; bruid 30 jaar; grootouders bruidegom vermeld; grootouders bruid vermeld (grandparents bridegroom mentioned; grandparents bride mentioned; in other words, the grandparents of both the groom and bride were probably the witnesses and gave their consent to the marriage because the couple's parents were dead) Here is the marriage info for a brother of Anna: Archive location Groninger Archieven General Municipality: Loppersum Type of record: Huwelijksakte Record number: 13 Registration date: 27-05-1871 Bridegroom: Johannes Nederhoed Place of birth: Eenrum Bride: Agata Folkers Place of birth: Stadskanaal Father bridegroom: Jelte Alberts Nederhoed Mother bridegroom: Petronella Johannes Smit Father bride: Harm Derks Smid Folkers Mother bride: Truda Eilderts Busscher Additional information bruidegom 33 jaar; bruid 33 jaar; weduwe van Jan Dijkema (bride was the widow of Jan Dijkema) Here is marriage info on another brother of Anna: Archive location Groninger Archieven General Municipality: Ten Boer Type of record: Huwelijksakte Record number: 28 Registration date: 21-11-1868 Bridegroom: Albert Nederhoed Place of birth: Loppersum Bride: Grietje Pool Place of birth: Kroddeburen, gem Ten Boer Father bridegroom: Jelte Alberts Nederhoed Mother bridegroom: Petronella Johannes Smit Father bride: Jan Alberts Pool Mother bride: Anje Pieters Slager Additional information bruidegom 24 jaar; bruid 19 jaar This Albert Nederhoed also went to America and is buried in Vogel Center Cemetery, County of Missaukee, Michigan along with his wife Grietje AND his sister Anna Nederhoed: Albert Nederhoed, born. ± 1844 te Loppersum, died. ± 1902 in Winterfield, MI, Grave/Lot/Range: 4-26-A bron: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mimissau/vogcem4.html son of Jelte Alberts Nederhoed en Petronella Johannes Smit Married 21 nov 1868 at Ten Boer with: Grietje Jans Pool, born 25 jan 1849 te Kröddeburen, bron: dtb Ten Boer 1833-1852 died 24 March 1917 te Springlake MI, Grave/Lot/Range 1-37-D bron: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mimissau/vogcem5.html daughter of Jan Alberts Pool en Anje Pieters Slager 1) Nelly Nederhoed, born ± 1878 te Winterfield MI, died 15 aug 1880 in Winterfield, MI Nederhoed, Anna: Vogel Center; 2-40-A NA; d. 4-25-1895 59 (She died on 25 April 1895 at age 59) Name of Deceased: Nederhoed, Anna Date of Death: 25 April 1895 Male/Female: female Marital Status: married Age at Death: 59 Place of Death: Clam Union Twp. I started a website a couple of years ago with my Coopersville Cemetery ancestors' gravestone photos and last year began adding non-relatives. I plan on getting out to the cemetery before the summer is over and take some more photos. I have a lot to do, as it is a large cemetery. I have found some errors in the listing that was done many years ago. There are some large maps of the lot owners. The sexton keeps a copy in the maintenance shed, and I tried asking for a copy from the city hall so I could scale it down and add it to my website, but didn't receive a reply to my email. If you can tell us what the name you are looking for is, maybe we can keep an eye out for the stone. If no one pays for the burial, then there might be a "pottersfield", a section of the cemetry where such people are buried. Sometimes those records are kept in a separate list or are not as well kept. I do not know if the cemetery is still active. Rich
Tried to get the cemetery records a half dozen years ago, so I could transcribe the Cemetery, but the local funeral home, which controls the Cemetery Board, and thus the records, refused me access. I did transcribe the Southwest, and about a third of the Southcentral portions of the cemetery, but got involved with other things and got no further. Will try and find the records if you have a name. However, please note that I no longer live in or around Coopersville. /s/ Doc Ramosclann@aol.com wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CIB.2ACI/1277 > >Message Board Post: > >Does anyone know where I could find the records for the Coppersville Cemetery? Is this cemetery still an active cemetery with an office that might hold available records? The wonderful site onlines of burials in the Coppersville Cemetery, shows that my g.grandfather was buried there in 1881, but my g. grandmother who died in 1895 and thought to be buried there isn't shown. Perhaps there was no headstone. >Elberta > > >============================== >Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration >Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
