Chris, Just wanted to extend a HUGE thank you for taking on this task. The 1850 Ottawa Co. census was the first official tool I used when beginning this "hobby" 4 years ago. It opened the door to many ROSENBERG(ER) ancestors we never knew existed in Tallmadge, Wright & Chester Townships . I know this census could open the door for many others around the world! Contact me off list. I am interested in proofreading, but, would like more information. My desire to help is great but time is always short! -- Shalom in Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, Shelly Low Arnold Holland, MI, USA (on the Allegan & Ottawa County line bordering beautiful Lake Michigan) Researching: ARNOLD, ATWELL, BENNETT, DEWAR, EAS(s)ON, ELDER, GROENMIEJER, LAPO, LOW, NEISH, NETHAWAY, OVERKAMP, PACKER, PLUISTER, ROSENBERG/ROSENBERGER, SCOTT, SOULE, WILCOX (& all early spellings), WHITTEMORE and looking for a connection of ELDER, SCOTT &/or LOW with DUNCAN.
Hi All, Here is the census data for Henry Rutherford: United States Federal Census, State of Michigan, County of Ottawa, Township of Crockery, Microfilm # M432-361, page #27b, Line #13 thru #16, Dwelling #316, Family #316, Henry Rutherford, Age 32, Sex M, Occ. Henry C " " , Age 10, Sex M, attended school, Birthplace Canada Charles " " , Age 3, Sex M, Birthplace Mich Transcribed by Chris Brown aka [email protected] Just a word to let the list know, I am currently transcribing the 1850 Ottawa County census for the Rootsweb census project. I have finished Tallmadge, Wright, Chester, Polkton, Ravenna, Crockery, and Muskegon townships [yes they were part of Ottawa county in 1850] and am currently working on Holland. Before I can send the information to Rootsweb for them to post, I need a proofreader. If anyone on the list has access to the census and is willing to proofread let me know. I will send you a printout of the information which you can then check against the census itself. You then notify me of any corrections and we can send it on to Rootsweb. You will be given credit for the proofreading and as a bonus you get to keep the printout I send you. Then everyone will be able to access the information via Rootsweb for free. I am sure Brian and Terry will have a link to it as well on the Ottawa county page. d:-) Take care and happy hunting, Chris Brown aka [email protected] >Date: Sun, 2 Apr 2000 17:25:01 EDT >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] > >I am new to this list. I noted that a recent post was made by someone living in Ft. Worth. I just wanted to let that person know that if you think there might be a possibility of relatives in Muskegon Co. (just to the north, and it's always a good idea to check records from surrounding counties, right? ;) that one of the LDS locations in Ft. Worth (the one in the southern part of town, not too far from the regional branch of the NA) has in its collection, some vital record indices from Muskegon Co. I remember going a couple of years ago and being pleasantly surprised to see that the only birth records they had for the whole state of MI were from Muskegon Co. (before 1940). Might be useful info. for someone now living in North Texas. :) Jill (Syers) Clark Cedar Hill, TX

Here is the original message: Thank You so much for your beautiful website and the wealth of information there. I found one thing that needs to be corrected. Terri Rene DaVar-Howard -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Announcing the GC-Gateway From: [email protected] You asked for it -- here it is! GenConnect boards can now be "gatewayed" to mailing lists. When a board is gatewayed to a mailing list, every message posted to the GenConnect board will be forwarded to the corresponding mailing list. The message sent to the list will contain the URL of the specific post to allow the list subscribers to respond directly to the message. In this manner, gatewaying will enable more effective communication between the mailing lists and the GenConnect boards.

Tom in tornado town! Ah......, so Boston Photo was here in the 1800's! No wonder Lakewood Photo personnel were clueless. I suspect that the Joint Archives of Holland, housed in the lower level of Hope College's Van Wylen Library here in town would know about this company even if the local Herrick Public Library doesn't (and they just might). Joint Archives of Holland's phone # is (616) 395-7798, their public viewing of archives are limited to just a few hours a week. I don't know how their phone calls are handled. -- Shalom in Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, Shelly Low Arnold Holland, MI, USA (on the Allegan & Ottawa County line bordering beautiful Lake Michigan) Researching: ARNOLD, ATWELL, BENNETT, DEWAR, EAS(s)ON, ELDER, GROENMIEJER, LAPO, LOW, NEISH, NETHAWAY, OVERKAMP, PACKER, PLUISTER, ROSENBERG/ROSENBERGER, SCOTT, SOULE, WILCOX (& all early spellings), WHITTEMORE and looking for a connection of ELDER, SCOTT &/or LOW with DUNCAN.
