I have now discovered a possible 'twig' on my tree that lived in Oakland Co on the 1910, 1920 & 1930 Census. On his WWI Draft Registrtion he also lived in Oakland County. I do not have a marriage date or death date. I suspect the marriage could have happened in the 1910s. The man was 60 in 1930, so I would say the death was probably in the 1930s or 1940s. Are there any microfilm or printed indexes, that I could look, in Oakland County to get a time of the event, so I could then go to the court house for the documents? What library would hold these items about Oakland County. Thanks for your help. Susanne
Susanne, Wish you had posted this one day sooner, I was just at the courthouse this morning. The wonderful thing about Oakland County is that you can look without paying. Marriages and deaths pre 1940 are open books. So you can go search for yourself without a fee being imposed. You have to go to vital records on ground floor and ask to do "genealogy" research. You then must fill out a form, and then you can look at the books. So if you are able to come to Oakland County and look its relatively simple. There is a data base on Ancestry of Oakland County records, but I don't really know what all it encompasses. Perhaps someone else on the board might be able to assist you in that department. Hope this was of some help to you.
