There are some Roop's living in Lake Orion area. I checked the Lake Orion newspapers for the surname of Roop and got a few hits. It is on-line. Type in: IDIGORION.COM and you will get the newspapers on line. There were 62 hits, but a lot of those hits were for the Boy or Girl Scouts with the word Troop, but you might find some of your early family mentioned in some articles.
