    3. HI Lorelei, Nellie's father Henry is brother to the Harriet we have been writing about. Their sister Frances is my husband's grandmother. Their parents were Elbridge and Maria (Blanchard) Lockwood. How Stephen connects I have yet to learn. Just from memory, it seems the Stephen family lived near the Elbridge family in Sterling Township, Macomb County. I like to share what I have learned, to me that is what this hobby/addiction is all about, helping & sharing. If you want contact me off list. Since I've recently become a Lockwood researcher myself, I wonder if anyone is researching Stephen Lockwood [bc 1795, d aft Jun 1880, age 84] and Dinah Unknown. Their children were Remember, Levi, Lucy, Chauncey, Myron D, Martha, Allen, and Augusta. I have some good info to share from a Civil War Pension file of Martha Lockwood's 1st husband John B Newton. Also looking for info on Nellie May Lockwood, b 28 Jul 1881. She md William Marsac. Nellie's father was Henry Lockwood. Looks doubtful I would be allowed access to the records She is my husband's great aunt. The Oakland County Pioneer Library in Pontiac did not have a copy of an obituary for Harriet. I never searched further. I was always curious how an age 61 woman who died 9 Sept 1913 could have been accidentally asphyxiated. Maybe gas fumes or ???? It was suggested I check at the Oakland County Courthouse for coroner's inquest. This sounds reasonable. If she died without medical attendance one would think their would have been an inquest. I will do this next time I am in Michigan unless I can get one of other Lockwood researchers to do it for me. Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't. Same basic building, just different branch. Since these records have to do with medical records, they may not allow you access. You may have to prove relationship or go thru an attorney to gain access. Have you looked for an obituary on her? The State Archives USED to do free lookups but in the near future they are going to $15 per lookup. As of this writing they are sending back your money if nothing is found, how long that will continue is unknown to me. Thinking it odd that a person age 61 cause of death would be accidental asphyxiation. I inquired at the Oakland County Pioneer Library in Pontiac if they had a record of people dying at the Michigan State Hospital (mental), Leslie said that info would be at the Michigan State Library in Lansing. She also said that they often wouldn't give out any info in the case of the insane. If you should learn how to obtain the records, would you let me know? This cause of death has me curious. Does anyone know if there would still be records from the Pontiac State Hospital from the 1930s?
