A friend sent me these websites and they both look good. Bios of many early French Canadians are included in the Dictionary and are searchable. At the Archives it looks like you can get records from their Microfilm Interloan Service. It doesn't look as if many databases are searchable online, but it describes how to obtain many kinds of useful records.
