Orion and Lake Orion should be one and the same. Way back when, it used to be known as Orion rather than Lake Orion. It is on a lake. I have been reading the local newspapers checking for obits and happenings of the local town folk, and some time in the 1960's I believe it was, they changed the name of the newspaper from Orion Weekly Review to Lake Orion Review. Therefore, I believe the town made the decision to also change its name to reflect the fact that it is on a lake. So, if you are looking in the census records in the past, it was known as Orion or Orion Village or Orion Twp. Then it became Lake Orion. Christie Trapp
